Bridgeport Mill - DRO Z Axix mount

I couldn't find any quill kits anywhere. Guess I should have asked.

Bridgeport Mill - DRO Z Axix mount

I wanted to upgrade my Bridgeport mill with a nice glass scale DRO. X and Y axis were pretty straight forward but getting a glass scale mounted on the Z axis was a little challenging. I searched the Intertubes high and low without much luck. I did find a number of brackets but they utilize the...

J Head Step pulley Low gear not working

Oh great. Looks like my choice was a bad one using WD-40 :nutter: I ordered some spindle oil (VELOCITE SPINDLE OIL #6) as suggested. Should I disassemble, clean and re-lubricate or is there an easier way ?

J Head Step pulley Low gear not working

Oh, I did have one follow up question. What sort of grease/oil should one use on the sleeve and housing? Seems like grease would be a little much since there is so little clearance. And could get gummy after a spell I opted for just a little WD-40.

J Head Step pulley Low gear not working

Just wanted to update you all. After closer inspection of the sleeve it looks ike someone had tried to repair it once before. I found the missing cam pin had a thread insert in it which had failed. I ended up ordering new parts from H&M. Replaced the assembly with new including a new set of...

J Head Step pulley Low gear not working

Thanks for all the feedback. I did get the unit disassembled. I think the problem was the spindle pulley bearing sleeve was stuck in the housing. It did not move up and down or even turn freely. I had to remove it with a dead blow. I'm guessing previous owner hadn't used low gear in ages and the...

J Head Step pulley Low gear not working

I have a J head with the step pulley. I'm unable to switch to low gear mode. The cam ring does not move to the low position and hangs up about an inch before the end of travel. I noticed that one of the screws (cam ring pin) is missing from the cam ring. Therefore it's only lifting on one side...

Have you seen this Bridgeport attachment

Just picked up a bridgeport mill. It has an interesting dial indicator on the Y axis. I got it cleaned up and working pretty nice however I'm not quite sure how it operates. I'm pretty sure there are some parts missing. Thinking there has to be an adjustable rod to lay in the V grove or perhaps...

    AR-15 80% Lower Milling

Understood. I really hate to buy Chinese crap and prefer American made. Can you recommended an alternative? I've been searching around on eBay and Craigs list but just haven't found a reasonable priced unit. Thanks.

    AR-15 80% Lower Milling

Mini Mill. Harbor Freight vs. ShopFox Thanks for the comments so far. Please keep them coming. I was leaning towards the Harbor freight. It has a 4/5 HP rating while the ShopFox only has a 0.2 HP. I like the digital depth gauge on the ShopFox. The harbor freight comes with the feed table. The...

    AR-15 80% Lower Milling

AR-15 80% Lower Milling - Mill Recomendations I have an 80% lower and need to complete it. I've seen a few video where guys complete these with only a drill press. Seems a bit crude. I'd like to know if one of the smaller milling machines like the ShopFox or Harbor freight milling machines...
