Bandsaw blades for really hard wood?

I never release the blade tension on any of my bandsaws.

Bandsaw blades for really hard wood?

Spend the money on the carbide blade. Mine lasted for many years, until I accidentally ran it into a hardened machinist vise.

OT: Replacent lens for cataract surgery

As I usually wear sunglasses all the time I spend outdoors, it is convenient to have them be prescription. At night, particularly while driving, I don't mind switching to corrective clear glasses. However most of my day-to-day work is up close and, though I virtually always don safety glasses...

OT: Replacent lens for cataract surgery

Of course one eye remains to be done. That is not to say that one eye is focused very close and the other very far.

OT: Replacent lens for cataract surgery

At 80-years old, I have just had the surgery in one eye, so far. And I can't imagine the screwed up vision I would have if one eye was focused in a different plane than the other.

Taking a poll of those interested in a 10EE Follow Rest casting.

Perhaps I missed it, but might it be possible to 3D-print the casting patterns? I'd like one for my square dial.

    Doing the "unpaid" work

One-man shop here. 80th birthday coming up soon. I try to cleanup as I go, and a complete sweeping and putting stuff away at end of day. Small shop improvement projects are done between jobs, when there is little else to do, and as I have time. As I live alone the day of the week is more or less...

OT NEUROPATHY SUFFERERS - FOUND ANY TREATMENT THAT HELPS?

Unfortunately it has horrible side effects, and our bodies were never intended to consume so much as we now do. Diabetes, obesity, inflammation...disease.

OT NEUROPATHY SUFFERERS - FOUND ANY TREATMENT THAT HELPS?

I now refrain from corn, but eat peaches and blueberries in moderation.

OT NEUROPATHY SUFFERERS - FOUND ANY TREATMENT THAT HELPS?

Pretty simple really...don't buy any...don't let any into the house. Before placing an item in your shopping cart, look at the list of ingredients. If it has sugar, put it back on the shelf. :)

Show your work not your shop.

Nearly all my life I wanted a mill and a lathe. First career as engineering designer. Second career as a boat builder. Finally, in my 70's, I found an ancient Index Super 55 mill and a Logan 12" x 35" lathe for $2k. Taught myself how to operate them using Youtube videos and this forum. The very...

OT NEUROPATHY SUFFERERS - FOUND ANY TREATMENT THAT HELPS?

Shiatsu (deep tissue massage) will bring immediate, temporary relief. Temporary in the way of saying that one session will not cure it completely. You need persistence and will undoubtedly find that the source of the problem is somewhere in your hips, back and neck. Longer term, hydrate, diet...

How do you handle tooling cost when quoting for a job

On occasion a job will come up that requires a tool I don't have, but would like to have. In this case I might split the cost of the tool with the client if I know that client's job will leave the tool with little wear.
