i have several of these (i like them) but one that i was gifted is very old and it is venier, not solid oak. does anyone know the history of these; or, is it a cheaper model??
i need a thickness planer for a small amount of wood. i see that home depot advertises a dewalt 13 in thickness planer for $69.00 . am i missing something or is this a mistake??
i am sanding and sawing wood; using a 1 hp grizzly dust extractor. would like to know if anyone is using a festool dust extractor (much more hp than the grizzly) and what are your thoughts about the festool??
at this time i amusing a grizzly wall mounted 1 HP dust collector. never did like it. what are the thoughts of a Festool dust collector. they look like a large shop vac. i will be using it for a 6 in belt sander and a 14 in bandsaw. suggestions/ advise??
i have apiece of cherry board 3/4 thick 7 in. wide and 6 ft long. it is cupped (i think that is what is called) anyway, it has a dip in the wood running lengthwise. at the lowest point, running the whole length it is about 3/16 in. is there a way to correct this??

i've always sharpened planer blades and chisles by hand. jusd ordered a honing guide. this will work much better, i'm sure. but, is there a better way to sharpen gouges and curved chisles that by hand??
jaguar: i used to be in the wood finish business. i know that i have in excess of 24 wood finishes. when all is said and done i can eliminate 20 of them. my best guess is that there is a lot of $ to be made making these products. odies being at the top of the list.
i have a unopened jar of the stuff and it is unshakeable in the jar. as i said i have transferred it to small bottles and it hardens. again, at the price i won't buy more for that reason. the product that i like best is velvit oil. takes a little longer but a flawless finish
i think that odies oil is good stuff. however i'm tired of it turning to chunky jelly in a short time. the last that i bought ; i poured into 3/4 oz glass bottles, thinking that will stop the jelling process. (i don't mind the jelling, but, it gets big chunks also) the small bottles also got...
