I'm looking for a small headstock for a fanuc welding cell. Its a small Arcmate 50 and all the headstocks I am finding are way too big (not to mention expensive) for my application.
Looking for 6-8" platter and I will have no more than 200ft-lb moment load on the headstock.
I still need to buy...
Hi gents, my old Nak slant 1 has been getting ran hard lately, and one thing that has consistently been an issue is drilling reliability. Lots of 304 stainless holes from 7/8" to 1.5" using indexable U drills. Seems like no matter how much I dial in the cutting speed/feed and pecking I have chip...
Selling my Kalamazoo Auto Saw, I have ran this for the past several years but as volume has increased I needed something a little bigger.
Treated me extremely well, perfect saw for a small shop that does some production sawing but also wants to have mitering capabilities and easy manual...
Hi, question for the more experienced folks.
Looking into a used welding robot, likely a small Arcmate 50 or 100
Will the programming and use between an RJ3 and an R30iB be substantial? On the used market the pricing is much more attractive on robots with the older RJ3 control. I assume...
Hi folks,
My Nakamura with a Fanuc 11T has had some spindle drive issues in the past.
Spindle Drive: A06B-6044-H108 Series 8
I replaced the MCC contactor about a year ago, and it just failed again today.
It happens right on startup, after the machine had sat for a week and a half.
Its a...
On the new machines we all know they nickel and dime you on everything. I have a big job coming up with pocketing that would benefit from through tool air blast (haas calls this TAB) I did order this machine pre plumbed for TSC so it already has the rotary union and manifold. I did not buy the...
Hi Folks,
I have a Nakamura Tome Slant 1 Turning Center with the Fanuc 10TE control. It was having intermittent spindle drive faults on startup but it finally failed. I found the drive manual online and went through the troubleshooting guide. Incoming AC voltage is good, DC voltages on the PCB...
Have some upcoming jobs with lots of mirrored parts.
Currently I mirror the model in solidworks and then have to set up a new job. I then copy tool paths and manual reselect geometry.
There has to be a better way, I dont see anything in the pattern tab of HSMworks. Wasting a lot of time doing...
Bonehead move, got lazy during a setup and didn’t put the set screw into the collet groove. Spun the collet in the collet chuck.
Just pounded the collet out of the chuck and its got a small amount of galling on the taper now.
Fortunately I have a spare but would like to get this one cleaned...
Been working on machining replacement motorcycle hubs this past year. Lots of learning in the process, current conundrum is brake liners. Securely fixing a steel brake drum liner inside of an aluminum hub without it shifting during use. Brake drum ID is roughly 3.55", been turning steel wear...
I have previously discussed this machine here:
Nakamura Slant Jr Lathe Fanuc 10T parameter backup
The CRT finally crapped out. It was getting dim for a year and I ignored it, but it finally went blank after sitting for a few days. I ordered a replacement screen from ebay.
New Fanuc...
Hi guys. Question pertaining to a step down transformer, and how you would wire it into an air compressor control for operation in conjunction with the air compressor.
I have a 5hp 208v 3ph Dresser air compressor. I run it off a dedicated 20A circuit(4 wires, 3ph + ground). I run a refrigerated...
Need to free up some shop space and this grinder just sits. It has some minor damage from a previous life but it seems to work okay the few times I have used it. Top feed knob was cracked and brazed, missing the work lamp, couple of the sheet metal shrouds are bent. This can be used manually or...
Selling a kalamazoo cold saw. Model FHC-315D
I bought it for a job only to find out its miss labeled as 230v when its actually 460v and I dont have high voltage available. You can see its main tag is 230v while the motor is labeled 460v.
Paint is peeling and it needs a coolant pump but it works...
Hi folks, looking for anodizer recommendations in the Connecticut / southern mass area. Im in hartford county CT. I have been using philson inc for several years with good luck, however they just told me their parent company is shutting them down. Currently getting a quote from light metals in...
Hi folks, I have a question on limitations of horizontal gang milling. Part in question is DOM tubing, 7/8" diameter heavy wall 4130. Overall width is 10.5" with two slight bends (about 20 degrees) on either end of the part.
\__/ shaped if that gets the point across. I need to trim the ends...
Bought a compressor, turned out to be junk so I pulled the motor and starter off before sending it to scrap.
15hp marathon electric motor.
230/460v
1745 rpm
254T frame
Also have the motor starter, eaton brand. It was wired for 230v so you would need to swap the thermal overload heaters out...
I have a new production part, made from 6061 with a 4” through hole .1875” thick part. Need to hold 4” +.002 -0 and considering a go no go gauge. What would be a good material to make this gauge out of? Or, is there a better tool to measure these quickly in production? I was going to use a...
