wish i knew as well, I have 5 of these with a whole bunch of spares, and even swapping all over the place between machines it seems like its more in the machine control than the KTI board, I can take a working panel and KTI board and put it in another machine and it wont work still
bump. i now have 5 A2100 machines, some with OSA LCD displays that work great for the touchscreen, some that we converted that work, some that dont. I have swapped parts around (front panels, KTI boards, cables) but nothing seems to fix it. it is a BIOS setting? Is it the bridge board? They all...
Just pulled the grippers actually out of the end of the drawbar, looks like they have a brand Riken on them, but Google is no help there. Guess Ill have to call Kitamura on monday.
edit: took apart the other drawbar that i have from another spindle i bought for this thing, Riken 3-P08587H is...
Hey all. I have an older Mycenter 2, 40 taper. looking for a place to get drawbar fingers. Had a tool clamp solenoid go bad, and it jammed the pull stud up when the fingers were closed and broke one of them. Ive searched for a while and no luck anywhere. Its a 1989 model with a hydraulic...
well, new KTI board, new screen and sensor, and still no touch screen or keyboard working. Starting to think its the board at the machine end. I hate having to use a mouse on this all the time.
Douglas, looks like mine doesnt have a transmission, so they are just greased bearings. There is a provision for a spindle chiller, but no actual oil bath for this setup.
Hey All. Back again with another quandary. I have a 1985 year Slant 1, great machine. Recently with the cold weather it does a bit of "moaning" from the spindle assembly. Usually under 1000rpm, and if i stop the spindle and restart it, it goes away for a bit. Im guessing that these are standard...
So I got the FLIR out tonight and decided to poke around. Looks like the RS232 control chip and the voltage reg are the 2 hottest things. I already replaced the 7805 regulator, next up is the RS232 chip and see what happens. This was after running for about 5 minutes.
I found it, thats a great price. I may just grab it for a spare. Id still like to know what exactly is causing this issue, since it works for a few minutes then stops. Thanks for the info Metalurgent.
Yup, I added about 8-9" to this one, being 6'4" doesnt help. even my bridgeport is on a rolling cart that raises it about that same amount. I did a little restoration on the feed plate last night, as well as tear down the apron.
Apron mostly disassembled after MUCH struggle with the...
Hey guys,
I figured Id start a new thread, since my questions were answered about this lathe in another thread I made. This unit was made in March 1924, came with a chip pan, 8 speed gearbox, and a taper attatchment. Its in decent shape for its age, but its definitely got some things wrong...
got the apron and power feed off, and the cross feed parts. some of this stuff was pretty dang stuck. the air hammer definitely came in handy for some of the shafts. a few questions tho.
1. anyone elses lathe magnetic? I was taking some screws out and noticed that the bed and most of the iron...
Looks like there IS a feed rack under here. So im guessing that knob will engage that, rather than using the feed screw.
Getting lots taken apart and ran through the hot tank. Amazing how tight they get flathead hardware! Bed looks a bit worn ans so does the carriage. Have to rig up a slide...
Did a bit more searching and also may have issues with 1 of these 4 caps, and possibly the RS232 transceiver next to them, but Im out of cold spray so until tomorrow ill have to wait and figure out what the real issue is. just spraying compressed air on the area gets the board working again...
ClappedOut, there is no belt slip with the Atlas, and it actually stalls the motor out with too deep of a cut. As far as ive seen there is no rack gear drive, just a feed screw on the hendey, and my atlas as well. I usually dont take deep cuts if feeding either way, but a little extra power is...
