Thinking About Buying a Mazak Variaxis C-600

Anybody own a Variaxis C-600 on here yet? I'm pretty sure it's a fairly new model replacing the J series. Can somebody share their likes/dislikes about the machine? It's a pretty big upgrade to my other two 5-axis machines (Haas umc 500's) I was also quoted a 500 mm OKK 5 axis. But I'm leaning...

Reamer cutting undersized because of run-out?

My pin is not bent, and it is possible my drill maybe walked 2 or 3 tenths, but I'm starting to realize, a reamer that sticks out too far, especially if it is dull will have a tendency to follow the hole instead of slightly cutting it's own path.

Reamer cutting undersized because of run-out?

I think that it is a lobed hole, I will look into pecking, I've never tried that with a reamer before.

Reamer cutting undersized because of run-out?

It is very possible the reamer is dull, it has made many parts in the past, this is a repeat job. the only part I,m slightly confused about is the fact that the tip of my reamer is mic'd .0002 bigger than the gage pin. As I do more research, the longer the reamer is sticking out of the collet...

Reamer cutting undersized because of run-out?

Hey everybody, I've got sort of an uncommon problem. I'm drilling and reaming a hole with a .0781 reamer. I have mic'd my reamer from bottom to top and the hole thing reads a consistent .0781. I have changed speeds and feeds to try and make my hole cut to an actual .0781 diameter but as weird as...

Small hole drilling in M2 tool steel, help!!!

Ok, I apologize for not including details, and I've dialed in on good numbers and so far it's been working great. .026 carbide drill, 20 sfm with a .0001/tooth chip load, which solved the problem! I applied the same principle to the reamer as well. Thanks for your quick reply.

Small hole drilling in M2 tool steel, help!!!

Hey everybody, I have to drill and ream a .026 inch hole through .125 thick M2 tool steel, my drills are breaking after 2 or 3 parts. I have both regular cobalt drills along with carbide drills, and both have been giving me trouble! Any advice helps! Sfm recommendations, speeds, feeds, chip...

Starting a new small machine shop...

Hey guys, I know this is a common thread, but I'm starting a brand new machine shop in a fairly small building (40 x 40). For those of you who have done this in the past successfully, are there some things I should look out for? What were your biggest speed bumps? What were some things you wish...

Large end mills in 40 taper Haas

Hey guys, brand new to the forum site, but anyways, I run a vf2 ss regularly on hard metals. I've definitely found using a regular set screw solid holder works best with the larger end mills, not to mention when compared to a regular er collet holder is a lot more robust. I can understand slight...
