Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

I believe the rails are out of alignment based on all of the results. The head trams practically dead nuts to the table at 2 different heights. The pickups of the same bore differ at different Z heights however.

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

I ran a test with the cylinder square. Put a pallet on the machine and moved my spindle off center by the radius and plunged in Z then rotated the C axis only to make a circular "groove" for the cylinder to sit in. Stuck my indicator to the casting and ran up and down and over ~9 inches I was...

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

I was not saying the table was adjusted to match spindle centerline, but rather the spindle centerline was adjusted independently (and no longer parallel to) of the Z axis rails to match the table. Either way, all 3 components need to line up.

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

When speaking to a Mikron service tech, he told me the same thing and that this could have been done from a crash where a half-assed alignment job was done to say "yep the tram is good, so it's aligned".

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

I unfortunately don't know the history. We bought the machine used and I am just getting into it.

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

And we have a winner. I set my indicator at 3 different gage lengths and swung the same hole without moving anything but the Z axis. Got the following numbers: To take it one step further I got my indicator as close as I could to the gage length of my probe and picked up a bore, then probed...

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

The machine is HSK-63. It only goes one way. Either way I am calibrating it and checking it again without even removing it.

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

I read through that before. I'm not trying to set any kind of crazy offsets in the kinematics or even considering anything other than X, Y at this point with stationary B,C. For sake of argument let's say my machine is 3 axis. Let's also exclude me even cutting anything. Imagine I put a 2"...

Mikron touch probe not agreeing with manual bore pickup

Hoping one of the Mikron experts can chime in here. We have a 450U machine and I am trying to verify center of rotation on my pallets. I took and endmill and plunged a small bore and then spun the C axis (after verifying my planes were flat without the pallet on the machine) to make a...

Okuma Z0 offsets for main and sub

I always zero my turret face to the body of my chuck(s). No tools, jaws, collets involved. There is no G55 for the sub spindle. I also zero my sub chuck to the main to make part transfers easy to calculate where to grip from.

I will check on this, but my machine has the 20 tool carousel anyway. I have scheduled some time to meet with the guy who actually ran this machine last so hopefully he can give me some insight into what is going on and he might be able to point me directly to the solution.

Do I just keep scrolling until the lights show up? When I have had this issue there were no lights back there but I haven't tried rolling through the numbers on the thumbwheels. This is good to know. I went through the procedure to try to clear the CMOS data but I was unsure of what buttons I...

This does have the ability to go negative then it will turn itself around once it comes off the switch. The 3" was just a random number to be safe, I know it has to be far enough away to not be hitting the first step, this particular machine does move a significant amount though, which makes it...

Machine is a 74. It is definitely a geared head. I can manually cycle the pots through the tool change location on the ATC umbrella, but I can't get any tools to change into the spindle itself. Thankfully I had the rapids low when I did it but I did find out about the 3" "rule" the hard way...

Little progress. I was able to get the machine to run through MOST of my M57 Pot setting program. I cleared the CMOS and got through the entire program a couple times, then after that could only get through up to pot 11 for some reason before getting the same alarm as above. I am not aware of...

On this machine it forgets every time the machine is power cycled. I was told by the previous owner I have to run it every time otherwise the machine won't ever do a tool change without getting stuck. There's a little display on the side of the control that lists the current tool number that is...

I’ll give that a shot. My machine already had the program in it with the M57 tool assignments so I assumed it was formatted correctly. Any ideas as to what that button does/what that symbol is?

I got the machine in the garage and powered up. After spending an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't be "ready" I realized I was on an axis limit and that doesn't work. Then I figured out I had to hold the overtravel release button for a few seconds before it would kick in so I could...

    OP1 vs OP10

I like when people tell me my left rear tail light is out on my truck.
