It sure would be nice if there were some industry standards used in the coolant world. Tool steels, carbide, grease and oil, all have standardized tests and often you can get that data without difficulty. Why not a ranking of which coolant has better lubricity, which one can grow less stuff in a...
Please post up what works for you. Sounds like you are looking at something like a custom pull through reamer? https://pacifictoolandgauge.com/pull-through-chamber-reamers-nopix-showcart-/410-308-winchester-saami-headspace-pull-through-reamer.html
WTO makes some small coolant speeders. Would that pocket allow you to interpolate with a itty bitty tool once you got it in there?

I've started with black oxide impact sockets when using them to make custom stuff. They normally come with a thicker wall and no chrome to chip off or mess with.
What condition will you be doing your machining in? Solution treated? Finish machine after finish age? Or all machining after finish age? Aged it's some hard stuff.
Edit: I was wrong. At H1050 it isn't that hard. It's the lower temps that are hard.
You're right, if I was going to pay the min lot charge for chrome I'd make it out of a better material! Maybe I should have been more specific... McMaster sells chrome plated shafts that could make a good hinge pin. https://www.mcmaster.com/product/5947K13
I'd do the front and back chamfers as well as the threads in the lathe in op2. If you have a batch of parts to fix now turn not only inside out but the direction you turn can matter for burs too. Try a left hand boring bar to make the chamfer.
Sounds like OP is talking about a replaceable tip drill not one with square inserts?
Floating reamer holder

...or just use a long carbide tipped reamer and they seem to flex enough to not need the floating holder
This stuff will melt at the temperature of hot coffee. It's got lead and cadmium in it so don't eat it. The old brand name of it was Cerrosafe but it's also similar to Wood's metal. You can use it over and over for a long time.

You can't just put it on top of the machine? The only problems I see is fire and moisture in the attic. With a plastic duct coated in oil (water will evaporate) it can get an errand spark and go up like a Christmas tree with the blower stoking the flames. Use stuff that won't burn (rigid steel...
WTO makes nice tools and does make an adjustable angle tool. They are expensive and not exactly for hogging off material. A custom cutting tool won't do what you need? profiling with a ball end mill?
