Hardinge T42 Work Shift vs Work Offset Question (Fanuc 18T Control)

I know what it is and what it does. I just prefer not to use it if work offsets are available.

Hardinge T42 Work Shift vs Work Offset Question (Fanuc 18T Control)

Use one or the other, not both. Bad things can happen if you use both together. Personally I would never use G10 if work offsets (G54-G59) were available in a lathe.

    OT, Youboob idiots laugh

I agree that it shouldn't be this way but it is not uncommon for high volume production shops to have programmers who never touched a machine in their life.

Where is the Memory Card Port - Fanuc 18T on a Doosan S280

I think only the i series had the memory card.

G32 after G76 for thread cleanup?

Be careful. In my experience, G76 and G92 (never tried G32) synchronize differently even when everything else is equal. I would just use G76 for the rerun with the initial depth as the full depth.

Questions about running machine at 100% speed.

Once I prove the program in the first part, rapids go to 100%. None of our machines can rapid above 1000ipm.

Mazatrol guys have been doing it for three decades.

Thanks to member Philabuster for his Youtube Mazatrol videos

I have watched them all and I don't even run a Mazak.

Mazak Mazatrol need help defining a boring bar / angles

If the boring bar is the more common MDUNR then it has 3 degrees of clearance so you should define it as 93 and 55.

    Lathe form tool program help.

Plunging that tiny tool almost 3/8" at full depth will probably not happen without breaking the tool. At that small of diameter there will be extreme pressure in that small tool.

Round lathe inserts, what are your opinions?

I hate those useless things. I refuse to use them.

Machining multiple parts with sub-programs Fanuc

M97 is a Haas thing. Fanuc has always used M98 for sub program call.

G83 peck canned cycle, doosan lynx. Can I change the point that it rapids back into the hole to?

I am very surprised that no one has mentioned G74 yet. G74 R1000 G74 Z- whatever Q3000 F0.whatever The R will make the machine rapid back 0.1 and start feeding the next cut from there. Q is the amount of peck (0.3" in this case)

    Chamfering on a lathe

I roll all my corners. Even when there is a callout for a chamfer larger than .03" I still roll the corners of the chamfers.

G88 Rigid Tapping Lathe Fanuc 18i-t

I run a lathe with a 21i-T every day with system B. Yes, it's switchable. It's just a parameter. I switched it to A once and the old guy who ran that lathe for a long time before me got upset because "that's how he ran it for years!" 🤣🤣 So I switched it back to keep him happy 🤣

G88 Rigid Tapping Lathe Fanuc 18i-t

His lathe must be setup with G code system B. It uses G94 for inch per minute feed and G95 for inch per revolution feed just like milling machines do. On a normal lathe with G Code system A the IPM and IPR are G98 and G99. The G94 facing cycle of A is G79 in B. The G92 thread cycle of A is G78...

    Hitachi Seki Hitec 23SII Drilling?

G74 Z-2.0 Q0.1 would peck 0.1" at a time and retracts .02" after each peck in our late 90s Hitachi 23J lathe. I think the retract amount is controlled by parameters.

G88 Rigid Tapping Lathe Fanuc 18i-t

I think some machines require IPM feeds for tapping with live tooling. So your G95 might need to be G94.

Need help with a g02 code on a lathe

    A 1/2" button tool cannot make a 3/8 radius plus that should be a G3 move, not a G2.
