I know I said I wasn't going to make any more tool boxes but I found a few curly maple boards in my pile I didn't even know I had. The figure was so stark I had to do something with them. At age 83 if I left them in the pile I'm guessing they would end up as firewood. Predominate wood is curly...
I want to revive these Marquette battery chargers. Both look to be from the 50's or 60's. A schematic would be helpful. Any one have a lead on paper work. The R2D2 looking round guy is a model 215 and the square guy a 322.........Bob
Looking at a used Darex M-5 and need to be educated. Has 2 chucks and some kind of diamond wheels. How many chucks should it come with? Parts available? Decent machine? I haven't looked at it in person yet. Any heads up appreciated.............Bob
My neighbor and his son bought this VTL at auction last week. Local riggers quoted $6500 for a crane and the 12 mile move. The boys have a big fork lift and heavy duty trailer so are doing the move themselves, just the two of them. No reason really for this post other that I'm so impressed with...
I've posted a few Gerstner type boxes I've made. They were mostly similar except for the type wood and grain. I wasn't planning to make anymore but I was re-stacking one of my wood piles when I stumbled on a few long forgotten rough cut cherry boards I'd picked from a local mom and pop saw mill...

Formby no longer sells their tung oil finish. I think it actually was a wiping polyurethane. I tried a few other "tung oil" finishes and don't like any of them. Has anyone discovered a good replacement for formby?
It's still available on Ebay as old stock but at eye watering prices..Bob
My son bent the ram on a hyd cylinder. 1" dia X 32" stroke. Bent maybe 1" out of true. Just as a quick general question are rams of that size generally straightenable or best to just scrap it and not to waste the time trying..........Bob
I replaced the stock reefer temp control with a generic I had on hand. Now the temp is 30F when set to lowest #. My beer is slushy. I would like to adjust the calibration warmer. I'm thinking there is a calibration adjustment. Under the temp adjustment shaft there is a small hole and I can see a...
I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee. Two days ago my car flashed a tire pressures low warning. OK. I added air and all was well. Later that day I got an EMail saying "Safety Warning, tire pressure indication."
Thinking it was perhaps a recall I opened the message.
It showed my VIN#, then the tire...
I'm thinking of installing an acid neutralizing unit for my well water. I'm getting some copper staining. The question is will it alter the taste of my water. I'm blessed with remarkably good water, soft and with GREAT taste. No iron or sulfur.
I'm assuming the sales folks will assure me it...
I'm trying to connect the start and run caps on a 5HP WEG single phase motor. I need to know the start from run windings. The switch is not hard wired so no help there. Generally speaking is the start winding the heavier or lighter gauge wire...........Bob
I bought an older IR type 30, model 42D3, for next to nothing almost on a lark. I would like to clean it up and get it running just because of it's art-deco looks. Motor is a Westinghouse AC single phase type CR. I take that to mean clockwise rotation. Only 4 wires into the frame for 110/220V...
I need to press an oilite bushing into a nylon gear. Gear hole measures 1.000. Bushing OD measures 1.003, ID .562. Is that too much of a press or am I good to go. Any danger of splitting the gear. Is warming the gear a good idea? Thanks..........Bob
I recently scored a nice Volstro rotary mill attachment. It came with only a 3/8 collet. That will do for most of my needs but I'd like to find a 1/4 collet, and possibly others. I need an older E-16 not an E-16R.
If anyone can help shoot me a PM.......Thanks.......Bob

You guys must be sick of these things. I know I am. After I finished the last cherry box I found some scrap walnut that a pallet making operation had given me many years ago. While not very figured I thought I'd save it from the wood stove. I promise this will be the last. I still have the...
Some of you may remember a few Gerstner knock offs I made and posted. Think the last one was a couple of years ago. I said it was my last.
Well, being semi cooped up with the Covid scare had me looking through my piles of old air dried wind fall lumber for some pieces with interesting grain...
I have a maybe 5 pound cast iron casting that has an "ear" broken off. New casting. Clean break. Will silver braze "suck" into the joint and join the parts. Very low stress part. I guess the question is will silver braze adhere to cast iron. A few ways to skin this cat but silver braze would be...
