Chucks made in Poland - Bison and TMX?

That in bold! Even the best chuck is hampered by a garbage adapter! I have 2 Bisons, no complaints, BUT! The one I use on the Hardinge came with a who-knows-who-made-it adapter from MSC that was an absolute trash. Returned the adapter for a replacement, which was even worse, ended up making my own.

    2.375in hole in 17-4

I get that, but drilling through 4" with 1.5 dia 3X drill, and then a 1.25 boring bar with .12/side pass x .01 IPR @360IPM should be a sub 10 minute operation. Not to mention that the insert cost ( drill and boring bar ) should be under $100 for all 60 pcs. Doubt you can achieve that by milling...

Thank You! Would you have anything for the hydraulic clutch/brake components?

    1/2-20 thread used where?

OK, I am completely dumbfounded by some folks here discussing where they may have seen the ever so elusive 1/2-20 thread. Not to mention that the OP's initial question was about 1/2 - 20 thread in a "fitting" application. First, in aerospace applications ( engine, airframe, fluid systems etc. )...

TOS Trencin Lathe - Source for Parts

OK, this is awesome news for some of us! Would it be possible to post a link to a parts list or at least an exploded view of the internals? I do need some of the clutch components, but afraid to tear into a still functioning machine without having access to available parts.

    SL20 vs ST20

As far as I understand it, only the MAINCON board is obsolete, other parts seem to be available even from the HFO, never mind pulled from old. SL vs. ST ... Mehh, I'd take the SL over the ST any day. I have a 2001 SL-10 which I am going to be selling within the next month. Don't know where...

    Brother HS-100

While there is absolutely nothing for new, certainly plenty of pulled parts you can get for them. If it powers up and homes, then you are 99% there. See if you can hook up water and check out the pumps. They can be taken apart and cleaned, just make sure you keep track of the cells and...

    Ongoing unrest in Russia

Red Herring then? As for unusual, an impressively shot up Mercedes was visible for days on the side of Schwechat airport in late 1985. That was supposed to be the stolen getaway vehicle for a small group of terrorists. Let's just say they weren't atheists. The aforementioned Dzokhar brothers...

For those in PNW/PDX . . . where do you take your chips?

Holy Crap!!! Local tool supply place ( Hemly of CT ) pays $7.00/# for scrap carbide!!! It was as high as $9.50 a year or two back, but historically between $6 and $8 for the last 6+ years or so...

    G-code help (edm)

By writing: G03 X3.9 Y5.2 I-3.5 J3.5 You told the machine to do this: Calculating the I and J values in your case is simple because it is a special triangle, otherwise you'd need one more bit of info besides the R. Either I, J or any one angle is still necessary.

    Ongoing unrest in Russia

I've know of a member called Rob F once that complained about posting a link to articles that are behind a paywall. Was that you, or a different Rob F? Since I cannot read the whole thing ( yet, but will figure out how ), let me post the segment just below the headline which IS visible: IOW...

    Tap Drill Hole notes

There is one problem tho: depending on the organization you work for, there is a different tolerance class for holes and tapped holes. IOW if you specify .190-32 UNF on the print, then the applicable tolerances come from the thread data. If OTOH you specify .159 Through - Tap .190-32 UNF .500...

Catia post Gcode problem with G41, G42 and D (offset number)

As Woflkid mentioned, the D-word remains active until it's changed. In fact I always make my toolchanges as: T101 M06 G00 G43 H01 D01 and after that there is no more D-call until either another toolchange or if I want to use a different offset for the same tool.

No disrespect Joe, but that thing is nothing like ThreadPal. Nothing! Unless I missed something, by all means, ask it to give you the information on a 3.0625 - 50 UNS 2B thread.

Aliexpress has Mitutoyo Digital calipers for $34.82

Local store some 10+ years ago had a pallet worth of them. The only obvious mistake China made was to misspell the brand name: Mitotuyo Of course, they may have been made in the US tho ...:stirthepot:

    Subprogram end of program error

Bill I was specifically talking about the Makino wire EDM-s. At least since the Duo series, the machine home position is in the middle of the workzone for X and Y ( same for U and W also ) It is an arbitrary position determined at the factory during assembly. Basically there are 2 limit...
