Greetings everyone.
I have a Nakamura TW-20 (Fanuc 16TT) with a hydraulic leak out of the back of the turret. I'd like to put the machine in maintenance mode and manually lock and unlock the turret to see if the oil leak is related to the turret clamping pressure.
On our WT-150 and WT-250...
I pulled a 6" 6-jaw Bison chuck from an old O.D. grinder that was being scrapped. I'm trying to clean it up and make it pretty before I try and sell it and I wanted to know if any of you fellas had any ideas to remove the corrosion from the surface.
I don't want to do anything mechanical...
Greetings everyone.
We have a Daewoo DMV-4020 that doesn't like to release tools during tool change operations. Years ago I ran a Mazak VTC-20 that had a similar issue and the Mazak tech said our "knock-out" stroke needed adjusting.
My question is: Does our Daewoo have a similar knock-out...
Greetings, gents.
Like the title says, I have an old (96) Nakamura with a 16TT controller. Last year one of the memory modules went out and we lost everything. Fanuc came in, replaced the main board and loaded the config data from a different 16TT, roughly the same year. Now the controller...
I'm trying to look at diagnostic parameter #445 on an old 18i but the screen jumps from #428 to #450 and does not display any of the params in between. I'm running hex stock on a twin spindle and I want to orient the spindles with a M19 (orient left spindle) and a M419 (orient right spindle) so...
Greetings, gentlemen and happy 2021.
We have a Nakamura TW-20, Fanuc TT controller and I can't seem to clear the battery low alarm on the Z axis on the right spindle. I changed the batteries, wiggled the wires - the usual stuff - I chased the 6 volts from the batteries down to the plugs on...
Greetings, everyone.
Years ago I wrote a macro that relied on reading the #3001 variable (milliseconds since power up) to do some time related tasks automatically. It runs well enough on our 18i, 21i and Oi machines, but on the 16TT (older) control #3001 counts up to 65535 and rolls back to...
Good morning gents.
We've been running Manchester/Widia part off tools for over a decade with great results but we've been told they're being discontinued.
I wanted to ask the group if you have something you're fond of. Our big 'stickler' is a job we're running right now: 2 1/4" 303...
Greetings fellow machinists.
We have a new (to us) Nakaura TW-20, Fanuc 16TT that won't run in continuous mode (Mem Restart). Our WT machines all came with a Maintenance manual with a list of parameters that turn functions like those on and off. I can't seem to find anything in the...
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, but we have a couple of boxes of "setting" gages used to set ring go and no-go gages. A lot of common sizes (1/4-20, 1/2-13) and some uncommon ones (8-36).
I thought maybe someone here might be interested or could tell me what to do with them...
We have two Doosan Lynx 220L machines, both Fanuc, both Oi-D controllers. One is a 2012, the other is a 2010. When editing at the screen on the 2010 machine there's no way to get a set of parentheses to come up to add or edit comments in the program. On the 2012 machine they're a couple of...
I realize this is probably more of a 'Bill' question, but does anyone know of a memory location I could probe within a program to determine which machine it's running on? I run 3 Nakamura WT machines and the programs on the left side only have one or two differences that make them less than %100...
Like the title says, I'm curious what you guys are using for water soluble coolant. Our present company has changed formulas (and won't admit it...) and now we have a terrible foaming problem along with shorter tool life and rusting. So if you don't mind sharing, I'd love to hear what's good...
Hello everyone. Our owner came across a deal on a bunch of fixed set torque wrenches. They look like they'd belong at a car manufacturing plant where there is one wrench set for each bolt in the assembly process kind of thing.
They've been around here a couple of months and he doesn't seem to...
We have two new (to us) Doosan Lynx 220L lathes with Fanuc Oi controllers. When I'm doing setups and I call up a tool through MDI to take a skim cut, check for clearance, impress my girlfriend, whatever, as soon as I hit RESET the tool geometry goes away and I'm back to machine absolute...
Ok, so we have this job we're running in 303 stainless with a 31 pitch knurl on the o.d. We're scheduled to run 50,000+ of these annually. Right now we're using a scissor type knurl, and it's working pretty well, but I wanted to get some feedback on cut knurling. It's supposed to be faster...
Like the title says, I need to single point an internal 5/8"-12 acme thread and I can't seem to find a source for a threading bar. I have to thread in about 1 3/4". Fortunately the material is a brass casting. Got a couple of hundred of them
Any suggestions, or am I going to have to tap it...
We have 3 Nakamura WT lathes, a WT-250 and 2 WT-150s. ONE of the machines will NOT allow indexing of the turret unless the B-axis is in the Home position. The other two will. What I'm looking to do is make the other two lathes not index unless the B-axis is homed. That way I won't have to...
The new guy spun up one of our Doosans this morning and this happened. Can't say I've ever seen a jaw do this before. It made a pretty impressive thump when it hit the sheet metal.
Ok, so we got this Miyano BNE 34S in (on a dare, I think). It'd been sitting for the last 5-6 years at another facility, dead. We tried to power it up and couldn't get past the card configuration screen. So we sent the entire rack to a place in Tennessee (NOT Tennessee Industrial) and 5...
