Giving a quote on a job...weldment includes cutting a w24x84# beam down the middle to end up with 2 t bars for lack of a better description. Beams are 41' long. Are there shops that will do this? Am I going to end up with 2 bananas? Entire scope of job I would end up cutting 11 of these 40'...

    Welding fixture table question

It's all social media on those tables...most weld shops are just going to have large 1/2" plate or heavier tables. You don't need a fixture table, but they are nice to have. I do wonder on all the cost and work of the 1/4" tables...how accurate they really are, etc. I suspect many of them...

    Welding fixture table question

I'm a bit negative towards those tables...but it all depends on what you are doing. You have to buy the fixtures and clamps to make it worth it....which is of course more money. I buy these from zoro: These would be for the 5/8 hole tables...

How to mark up high material costs on lower labor job?

I'm quoting a project and wondering how some of you would mark up material in my case. (I'm a welding/fab shop, and these are rough numbers.) $80k in material before markup $40k in work at my shop rate. I always markup material but usually material is a smaller portion of the quote....this...

How weldable are HF vice clamps

Today's alloy may be different than yesterdays... but we weld them with no issues. I wouldn't hang from them, welded or otherwise.

Fabrication video, is it a sales gimmick?

The irony is the OP is contributing to the marketing plan. 2000 views by people interested in metal work...where else can you get that targeted reach for free?

South Bend Ibarmia (Beast of a) Drill Press A-40 Louisville, KY $1500

Didn't try it yet...I've been busy but I'm sure it's the same as on my Arboga. I knew about the auto shutoff via depth gauge...which is a very nice design. My first plan was to sell one/keep one. I have them on here, CL and FB....not much interest right now...might be the holidays.

    OT-ish What large format printer?

Starting to do more structural stuff where I have to have plans printed. I've been using the local office supply store and getting 24x36 pages printed. This is becoming a hassle. What 24x36 printer are you guys using and would you buy it again? Thanks!

Needed: tips for making large frames

See pic above. Tubes on end wall left out for clarity. 5 sided structure to those dimensions yes. All made of square tube. Not sure If I'd want to make the 2 largest walls and join them with the joists for the roof...or build the roof panel first and maybe build upside down off of that. The...

Needed: tips for making large frames

Yes the flat sides and 'roof' made separately would benefit from the tack and stack method... I was wanting more help on holding the whole thing in place as the sides and roof come together to make a box....and also measuring. Maybe overcomplicated but if I had scribed lines and one of those...
