Thanks for the reply, this is a for my part time job that I'm usually only at on Fridays so I don't have access to the program, but the tap is a 1/4-20 form tap and the feed is programmed at 20. so if it is supposed to inches per rev that could be the problem.
Thanks,
John
I am trying to rigid tap on a Miltronics with a Centurion 6 contol using G88. The problem I am having is when a put a Z number in the fixture offset the tap appears to go to that depth, I have only done this in verify didn't want to crash. With no fixture offset entered it appeared to run...
Thanks for the replies, I looked a little at the conversational, I think I'm going to check it out more when I have more time. Right now I am using a straight line move, turning it on and then making another straight line move before the G03 line, I'm thinking it is something real simple and I...
I am trying to cut a complete inside circle using cutter comp on a milltronics centurian 6 control, everything goes fine until the end when it leaves cutting the circle before it is complete. I'm pretty sure it is an issue with how I am turning off the compensation since when I run it with no D...
Solar,
I would use a smaller endmill, you only have .034 for chip clearance. Depending on how deep the hole is, I would probably use a 3/8" endmill. If it is critical, I usually helical interpolate close to size and use a boring head to finish the hole.

I am trying to find the right insulator/nozzle for a hobart gal200 gun-it has 1/2" thread that insulator threads on. Looking in MSC catalog doesn't have any specs just model numbers. Anyone know what will work?
Thanks,
John
Thanks for the replies. The polarity was correct. I am thinking it is the gas, tried some flux cored wire(after changing the polarity) and I am not getting the same problem as bad-just alot of spatter.

P.S. Dave, I don't think I am going to be in the market for a lathe for a while, the...
I recently bought a hobart betamig 250 at an auction and have been having trouble getting acceptable welds. The problem I am experiencing is the bead is very large, I am getting O.K. penetration but the bead sticks above the metal pretty high. I have tried all kinds of heat/wire setting...
This probably won't help your current problem, but at work we picked up a paint mixing attachment for a cordless drill(available at any hardware store) to mix coolant and it works much easier and better than trying to use some sort of stick.

I don't think anyone has suggested flipping the part over and trying to get through from the other side. I would take some measurements and layout my hole location on the other side of the cleaver and see if I could get through from that side. It might be worth a try. Remember to center punch...
Another way is to take a face cut, and measure the nub diameter that is left and shim half of that. On a manual lathe a quick and dirty way is to place a rule between your tool and work and bring the tool up until the tool holds the rule against the work, and adjust your height until the rule...
Dave,
I guess I haven't had a hard enough crash to throw the turret off on the z just on the x (above center) so when we did it that way it checked ok when we swept the pocket. Or does that just make sense to me? Hard to expain.
John
another way I learned to do it is to stick a long (aleast 6 inches) piece of something you know is true(ground stock or a piece of hss) and mount it where you mount a toolholder and indicate it along the "x" until it is true. I don't know if that is better than sweeping a pocket, but I've done...
I would recommend milltronics hands down. I work in a shop in the city where there are made(Waconia,MN) and that is all we pretty much have. In fact we are kind of a proving ground for them, we have one prototype machines and will be getting another. There service is second to none and they...
