Small world, huh :)
I have one of these pretty complete with the base in need of major tlc. Bevel gears, paint, surface rust, etc...
I was planning someday to bring it back like the one on ebay. Maybe not? I dont know the market value these days if there ever was one. If I could get 1500 for what I got that might...
maltese hunter (aka jake) is a better man than me. He posted about that lathe even though it could well have cost him the planer he wanted.
I feel compelled to give credit and a thank you.
Christmas comes early for Joe this year!
Email me the coordinates and I will get the it out.
Peter
Ps I striped down the lathe for parts, but so long ago and there was not much. It was a jumble of broken parts piled up in a local town dump. I dont think I have any more left. It was probably...
I see my post from yesterday never made it? I must have forgot to hit the 'Post' button.
I got a person to answer at VTI Gun parts yesterday and was able to order a main spring for $43 plus shipping. That price hurts and I did not order the spares I had planned. Should be a problem solved. I...
Unfortunately, I was unable to stay home and work the phones all day. I left two messages. Spoke with Buffalo, no parts there. I did score a direct phone number to Pedersoli Italy and allowing for the 5 hrs time difference I plan to call them tomorrow. I hope they speak English. I think I'll try...
I googled them will contact after buffalo tomorrow. Just posted a few more pics since they are worth 1000 words.
I do owe an acknowledgement of the post and thank you.
Close, but the devil is in the details. I marked up two views. Measure with dial caliper accuracy. Take the 1000's with a grain of salt.
Welding that corner solid sounds like a better design. And it is out of sight and lots of clearance all around that corner.
really! I was on the VTI parts sight for Pedersoli. Locks only. Called, left message no reply.
I will call Buffalo, I know them by reputation. Excellent! I wish you could remember the source you used.
Not logging out just yet.
Yea, that could be how it goes. I just got off the phone with a local guy who help me out before. Odd response, he is a gunsmith and said the legal liability situation requires he use only new parts? There are plenty of local resources, not so constrained.
For folks who are not rude, thank you...
I like to try and do it myself. I wonder if I was real careful, could I get away with 7018 stick?
I did some google search and have a general idea that bronze brazing is not suitable. And once done it makes future repair 10x more work.
I am pretty good welding trailer hitch scale parts or brazing. I have a tig gun for my miller but never took the time to learn how. I tried a few times and found I needed some instruction. Or a lot more practice. At this point, 10 years later, I would have to do some reading and be start from...
This spring is from the left lock on a 10ga Pedersoli db shotgun. I guess I over compressed it during removal or it was cracked already and I made it worse. I looked all over the web for replacements. All I found was VTI selling a complete lock for $170, which is about 50% of what the gun might...
I am taking this Brianerd Mill to the engine show in Dublin NH next weekend,Sept 12, for sale. Like to post a heads up here.
I think it is a very interesting old mill because while it is a Lincoln pattern machine it uses an over arm. I can elaborate on line or off. The price is $500. Should be...
This is probably a shop number and not a serial number. Unfortunately, a "no !" situation. Often as machines were built, the fitted prices were all stamped with a number (generally 0 to 99)
to keep track of which parts went to which machine. The head and tail were probably hand scraped, not...
Lack of replies might be due to lack of information. Swing and bed length goes a long way to help guess weight.
The highway patrol sounds pretty tough up there in BC?
Nice machine, welcome to the forum.
As politely as I can say this: You would get more response if you posted a better title , such as "Taylor Planer, Manchester England". We have a several knowledgeable UK members. Most surfers dont read every single post on every forum they frequent. You...
