The Ivory soap trick works surprisingly well especially when you don't have overhead clearance for rollers or skates. 6mil poly works well in tight places also. Bob
The cleaner is water base and I can always go back to dishwashing liquid with water. I'm more worried about the effects of the ultrasonic vibration. Bob
I have some parts that were assembles with Loctite on the press fits and also thread locker on bolts that need a good cleaning. Does ultrasonic cleaning with a "normal" general purpose cleaner sold by the place I got the ultrasonic cleaner from affect the Loctites? Henkel doesn't seem to say...
For dummies like me how would each of these factors affect the hole size? Higher RPM = bigger or smaller and such. Handy information to have when a hole needs to be just a little off size. Bob
Take it apart and clean it. You may have to stone down burrs where the adjusting screws touch if someone has been reefing on then that hard. There isn’t a lot of room to start with and raised burrs may take up all your adjustment room. Bob
Had a problem with an auction co once, now long gone. I tend to stand near the back of the crowd at auctions and was bidding on a VMC. Every time I bid they got a higher bid right away from someone vaguely behind me. Something felt fishy so after the next higher than me bid came in I turned...
Thanks for the links. Looks like I'm looking for a fire-retardant cloth in a flat sheet so I can sew a bag to fit the space. The spark trap is a good idea. My suction hose is only 1 1/2" or so but something could be added before it disappears into the machine. Ok now I'm on the hunt for some...
I've got a DoAll model B T&C grinder which is a rebadged Boxford G200 that has an internal dust collector. The original filter bag was torn and missing a piece of fabric so I added a piece that I had and proceeded to try it out. Bad Idea. 10 allen head screws removed in record time while the...
I used to love that stuff. A Google search for cotton wiping waste brought up several sources available from one pound up to forklift bales if this is what you want. https://easyleafproducts.nnigroup.com/product/cotton-waste/

When disassembling something with small parts or springs, place it in a plastic bag and work inside the bag. When things go sproing at least you can find the parts. Bob
I have a bunch of soldering coppers but my favorite it the one that goes on a prestolite torch. The flame fires into the back of the copper. Works like an electric but with more balls. Bob
From Grainger's web site "This item has been restricted from sale in the following states: California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Utah".
I had remove some old, dried on LPS SP400, the thick waxy yellow cosmoline like stuff. None of the normal solvents or purple degreasers would touch it. I called LPS and they recommended PreSolve. It worked like a dream, spray it on and wipe the gunk off. Double check but I think it's safe on...
Thanks Matt, you are using it exactly the way I was thinking. I don't know much about 3D printing and this is the first time I've heard of PETG. It looks like PETG fits the bill perfectly, more chemical resistant, stronger and petroleum based instead of corn. Off to research printers tailored to...
I've put this here as it isn't about how to do it but rather how did it work out. I've been thinking about getting a 3D printer for making organizers and boxes for the shop. Things to keep collets with the tapping head, racks for common allen keys and wrenches with the lathes and such. The only...
