Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but the last import I purchased new, from a very reputable seller had to come apart and get the top and bottom lightly kissed on the surface grinder before use. Where-as the real deals are generally accurate enough to gang up on one table right out of the...
Ditto, I have a Yuasa that repeats, it's angularity is moderated by an adjustable truss rod in addition to the usual joints you snug. Buy one cry once!
There is an adjustble cam on the nose that will give various lifts, rt hand or left hand, depending upon how it is adjusted. A ring mounts to the spindle with followers, one follower for each flute.. 1 follower, 2 follwower fiingers, etc...... I think I can do up to five flutes but. And from...
Harig Step-Tool fixture, as indicated I have one complete, so we can clone any missing parts (within reason) Here is a liink to one for sale. IF you can fit a drill into a 5C collet you can sharpen in. Bought mine new in the early 80, no documentation from Harig.... it was very much a take...
Duke, If this is a one off on a knee mill, then their is already a hand stroke mechanism in place on the quill anything you add is simply going to be additional slop and hysteresis. Just sayin.

Our friend Tom Lipton had a Harig cam fixture that takes 5C tooling missing parts. I have a complete one that we could clone cams from. That would do 1" spiral drills.
The Volstro slotter was only for the lightest imaginable work in the most compliant material. You'e better off getting someone to burn via edm, I have a Bport with an E-head (slotter) it's more robust but still not cost effective if you are trying to make money on this. I'd not sell the...

In an ideal world you would want the cutter to overhang the edges of the part. Your ability to step over will depend upon how precise the alignment of the knee is on the mill. At issue with step over is always the issue of steps showing in the finished work.
Back when I had a 3CH K&T...
Yup, used to make custom cutters, even went so far as to kluge one up once on a HES tracer lathe. Spindle had to be barely turning but it worked slick as can be.
When I was a tiny kid, (early 60) machinists dressed, even my grandfather who worked at Yuba Manufacturing in the San Francisco Bay Area building gold dredges wore a button down shirt and tie under his smock and a Stetson Fedora....
ETM ER40 and ETM ER25,s have been my go to for a very long time, same for 40 taper holders. The 40 taper holders from ETM are I think better than my Collis holders.
As a teen I haunted the automotive wrecking yards.... an old dismantlers hack. First tighten; and then cycle between remove and re-torque with some penetrating oil. A dozen or so cycles of snug, loose, snug loose, generally makes things much easier.
John K: Careful with cutters, Oh you bet. I have a recurring job that takes a 6" wide' 3" dia high rake, high helix HSS slab mill.
Wen I handle that cutter, mounted or not, it's with gloves ALWAYS and it's tough of gloves! Those fabric Home Depot gloves with the fake chamois palms and fingers...
Helix slab mills are my normal go-2, if you get speeds and feed right the finish is generally better. I also like to run with as large and well supported arbor as possible, and move metal as quickly as the set-up affords. Especially so with any material prone to work hardening. If the...
