    Normally the output shaft and bearing are locked in place. the fan end is allowed to float a bit. Shame they did not use an E-clip instead of that simple ring. Bill D

    Max payout by the company, by international treaty, is the value of the ship and any cargo onboard. In other words they can confiscate the ship and auction it and the cargo. I am sure the bridge will cost that much and a lot more. Not including pain and suffering for the folks killed. Bill D

    No guarantee the outside of the hub is centered on the bore. It may have been held by the outside of the pulley instead. Most accurate will be a mandrel in the bore. BilL D

    Maybe some kind of shifting fork? The pulley may not even rotate. Possibly it just moves belt slack off another pulley for clutch action. BilLD

    The design of the dolphins is not to stop the ship. It is shift it to a glancing blow that bypasses the important vertical portion. I bet the pier is damaged deep under ground and will have to be replaced or bypasssed. BilLD

    Unclear, is this an axial hole centered on the bore or is it sideways like for a setscrew? Bill D

    Advice on annular cutter for 3" hole please

    They make jigsaw blades that fit into a full size reciprocating saw. AKA sawsall. Worked okay in 3mm plate I would not want to try in 3/4" thick stuff. Bill D

    The ships crew may train for all kinds of situations but the pilots may have never been on that make and model of ship before. They will have some passing knowledge about how it handles but they are far from experts when something bad happens and it dos not respond like they expect it to. BillD

    OT: I have heard if you pour a little liquid nitrogen on the floor it will run like water but it will sweep up all the dust leaving the floor dust free as the dust flows to the low points on the floor. BILL D
