Had a 16 hole bolt circle to drill and tap on the radial drill this week. Apparently nobody on this planet makes a Morse Taper 4 tap driver for a 20x2.5 tap?
Heads up for anybody that might need one, saw a listing for a vise on Facebook Marketplace. Definitely a shaper vise and big. Not a vise for a 12" shaper, but a 12" vise! Probably off a 16" shaper. No connection to the seller, just posting in case anybody is viseless...

Saw this listed on Facebook today as a "big metal punch". Contacted the guy to let him know what he actually had. He says it's about a 21" table, so not a huge one. Probably cheap and the guy seems really nice. Just wants it gone. No affiliation, just hoping to save it from scrap.
Big metal...
Hey guys, have started digging into the inoperative powerfeed on the quill of the 2RQ-3-28 I got from JB Bergman a couple of years back. I have some major fab work ahead of me to re-create an entire missing shaft and gear cluster. There are some other minor parts, but this is the biggie.
This...
Was setting up to trim down an impeller wear ring on the old 1943 20" HD Pacemaker last Tuesday. Ran the tailstock ram out as far as possible to get some travel on the carriage and went to where it ran off the screw. No big deal, happens all the time. When I went to retract the ram, it felt...
Hey guys, in all my messing with these VN ram mills, I have never had to pull the cutter head. So, is it just as simple as: drain the ram transmission and head oils, remove the four clamp bolts, and pull it off? I need to pull the head on the new 2RQ to do some repairs on the feed mechanism...
Well, we made it in one piece. I was sick as a dog last Sat (didn't realize how bad I was until later) but hopped in the old 72 Chevy C-20 Custom Camper, hooked up the flatbed trailer and set out on the three hour tour. Week before I had thrown my back out so bad I could hardly walk for two days...
Much as it pains me, I am going to offer up my Fosdick radial for sale as I have another machine coming soon and SOMETHING has to go to make room. I have already posted my Van Norman 1R-3-22 and 2G Bridge Mill for sale in another section, now the Fosdick. I'd rather keep it, but whatever sells...
Something has to go to make room for the new arrival in May. Already posted my 1-R3-33, so also offering my 1970 manufacture Van Norman 2G Bridge Mill. This is a miniature planer mill. By miniature, I mean it's not as big as an Ingersoll with a 40ft wide table. It's still a 4,000lb machine. 3hp...
Hey folks, I am about to give up my VN 1R3 to make room for another machine. May 1961 production. It's in good condition, pretty tight. Drools oil, but don't they all? No horrendous leaks, just typical. Feed gearbox drive was reworked and re-sealed a few years back with the drive shaft welded up...
Any of you Cincinnati locals may can answer this. A friend was in Cincinnati yesterday and today and sent me a pic of an airplane hanging in the atrium. I did a quick google search and came up empty. I spent several minutes and used several different search terms, still nothing. She sent a...
The 2M at work is having trouble feeding under a load. Was hogging the edges of some flame cut 1 1/4" plate recently with the 6" facemill and it would quit feeding. I could not get the feed to kick back in without stopping and restarting the spindle. Plenty oil, so I am wondering if it is the...
Bit of excitement today at work. Was drilling 5/16" holes to tap out to 3/8. Finished the holes, unlocked the column on the radial drill (electric column lock) and it sounded like a grenade went off, with sparks flying from the back side. Brought everybody in the shop running, lol.
Anyhow...
Going to try this here due to lack of response on the heavy iron section.
Place I work has a Falcon 300 that is about to go. Machine is in good mechanical shape (new motor bearings about four years ago with very little run time since), but computer system has issues. Will run all day long for...
The Falcon 300 at work is headed out the door. Machine is mechanically pretty danged good, runs parts nicely, but the computer bits are glitchy. As my supervisor says, it'll run great one day and make 100 parts. Next day, it shuts down mid-cut on the third one, or won't even start at all...
Looks like I totally struck out on any info for the machine, but I think I can make do. Next question... The L-tec MT-200 MIG gun that is on this machine. I know the tips and cups have to be common, but have no idea what to order. Tips are 1/4-20 thread and the insulated nozzles have 5/8" ID...
Well, I'm glad I passed on that weird Airco because for pretty much the same price I bought a fully functional well kept and often used Linde/L-tec 225 yesterday. Typical shop wear for something probably 30yrs old, but it is exactly what I wanted, an old under rated, USA made, copper coil...
Ran across an older Airco Miget welder on Craigslist. have been looking for a MIG but holding out for something better than a Lowe's special. This looks to be a pretty beefy old machine. 200amps, 60% duty cycle. This model uses a spool gun instead of a feeder, but the gun is with it. Anybody...
