    Don’t forget something in evaporated!

Just a don’t do what I did post. I have an 8” 4 jaw polish chuck hat had some light rust from sitting. removed the jaws and put it in a covered container of evaporust - life happened and it wound up sitting for several months. Well don’t really know why, but it wound up basically glued into...

    Checking floor inclination

So have an install application where the floor is supposed to be within 1/2 degree over an arbitrary distance (install can be arbitrarily long, 100+ feet certainly possible. Local variance (bumps divots etc) are supposed to be within +-20mm. How would you verify the floor before install...

    Ack! No turn

So I get to join the people who have debugged a tube drive. Have not used the lathe for months, went to make a part, warm up fine, contractor closes when button lights, hit forward nothing ☹️ Lots of evidence of mice (I hate tiny livestock) so first thing I need to do over the next few days is...

OT eBay seller want to change terms

So I noticed an eBay item SIP boring bars, original listing had none of the info to tell what machine they go to, and it had a BIN price of 750 and make offer. So I inquired on sizing, looks like they will fit a mp-3k, and the seller resisted the auction here is the listing. 222905540881 or...

German rotary table info Hahn-Kolb (mechanical compensation like Sip)??

Just picked up a new to me old Hahn-Kolb rotary table. About the only info I found on it was a question on PM that went unanswered about 11 years ago (by the person I bought it from). Seems to be a super precision table - 120 turns per rev - dial is graduated in arc seconds on the vernier...

10" round galvanized ducting, vent installation cost

Ok classic make vs buy. Just got a quote for installing ducting to a big kitchen hood. 10" dia ducting quote is $850 installed. Now the installation is 8.5' horizontal, 90deg bend down to the hood, damper and rectangular to round transition for the plate in the vent hood. Seems wildly...

Semi OT refinish brushed stainless appliances - scratch removal

Got a great deal on a used Wolf Pro range hood. There are some minor scratches I'd like to take care of prior to installing. Typical of appliances it's a brushed finish, obviously you go in the direction of grain. Question is what grades of scotch brute pads or wet/dry sandpaper to use...

OT web hosting services (simple site and email)

Bit OT but I'm sure others hare have gone through this. Figured I should replace the antique business cards I had made decades ago they don't have my regular email or my cell number (handy to have and I very occasionally do a bit of consulting). So that made me think I should come up with a...

OT stores don't seem to stock 'standard" epoxy anymore.

You used to be able to get regular slow cure epoxy glue in any hardware, hobby, and even big box store. Well wanted some and it seems every store I go into has a load of instant cure adhesives but no old style standard cure 2 part. A couple has small dual plastic syringe with the integral...

OT kitchen range hoods $$$$ make your own?

Have a long overdue update to our kitchen in the works and am just astounded by the price of range hoods. Will likely wind up with a 48" high output range so need a big hood capable of ~1200 cfm. Looking around the prices seem to start at about $1500 and go up from there. Seems kind of nuts...

OT low performing water we'll probably with other issues.

Title should be water well but can't fix it now. We are on our own well which currently has issues. Figured it was worth checking here as some may have seen similar things or worked on this type of stuff. House and well are about 40 years old. Well is 300 ft deep, standard 6" dia, pump at...

Wilton bullet vise - value if someone welded the jaws on?

Came across someone with a several Wilton bullet vises for sale, but on looking at them someone welded the jaws to the vise body on each one of them:eek: Not sur if it is even worthwhile getting one for about $50 given the state they are in. In at least 2 cases one of the welded jaws came off...

Mold building - do you want 3-D cadd or fully dimensiond drawings?

For all the mold makers out there a general question (mold about to be built is for thermoset material, but the question should hold for thermoplastic, die-cast molds etc). This is for a production mold capable of millions of cycles; When you get a job to build a tool what do you want to...

Noticed a Thomas industries auction that went off on the 15th, with bids potter running the online bit. Over 1200 lots:nutter: Anyway I noticed they had a sip mp-3k and a separate lot of tooling. Figured maybe I could get the tooling. The day of the auction I find I can't login from behind...

OT Tapatalk sees almost useless now

Have been using Tapatalk on an iPhone to follow PM and other sites. Worked great in the past. Easy to get to list of forums and lists of posts gave a reasonable number on the small screen. New update seems to make it almost useless. Very difficult to navigate to forums you want. They seem...

WTB round carbide inserts (for weights)

long shot but figure worth a try. Looking for large round carbide inserts. ANSI 8 or 10 which would be 1" or 1 1/4" need to have through hole so RXXA I believe. Obviously looking for scrap ones, dull or chipped edges are fine. Only need a few, let me know if you have something. Thanks Paul

source for edge glow plastic tube?

I'm looking for some edge glow plastic material - tubing with a 3/8 and 1/2" ID (or close in metric) wall thickness does not matter to much for the application about 1/8 or less. I've searched on the web and come up with nothing - not sure if other wording would get me hits - edge glow, light...

    back gear parts interchangeable?

I have someone interested in buying the last back gear assembly I have. Their current back gear appears to be a later model one - has mounting feet in the castings and the engagement is via a gear interface not dog clutches. The back gear I have is a spline drive that was attached to a...

SIP PI-3 tilting rotary table - manual (anyone have one)?

Well the lunacy continues. Looks like I have a SIP PI-3 tilting rotary table on the way to go with the MP-3K. From the pictures it will need cleaning up, so the question if anyone happens to have the manual for one of these? I have the manual for the PD-3 (no rotary table just the manual)...
