Anybody have a good, sharp, 14-1/2° pressure angle 48 DP #3 involute cutter to sell? I bought a China one from Victor Machinery Exchange and it was complete garbage. The profile was way too fat and there was 0.01 runout, at least, on a 1.75" cutter so only a couple teeth did all the work. I also...
I have old 3M static no-electronics earmuffs that are reasonably comfortable over safety glass earpieces, but want to get some Bluetooth muffs so I can listen to sports/Spitofy/phone while protecting my ears in the shop. Anyone have recommendations? Should I be looking at earbuds instead? Do...
This panel was a subpanel in my garage shop until I upgraded to a bigger panel.
It is a QO130L200 main lug panel with cover. It has conventional neutral and ground bars, and no plug-on neutral capability. It is rated max 200A.
I also have a bunch of tandem QO breakers that I did not swap over...
I am offering Fagor SP-120-5 and SP-170-5 linear encoders for free, but you pay shipping (or pick up) from SF Bay Area. These are 1-V peak-to-peak sine encoders, not TTL. Travels are 120 and 150 mm. As far as I can tell, the current Fagor product is the S2P series.
I am looking for sets of 1/8" x 6" parallels that are on size ±0.001, so I can support long parts across multiple 6" mill vises. Some I've bought are on-size and some are 10 thousandths off, and it's a crap shoot which one I'll get. Does anyone know of sets that are known to be on-size?
I took the plunge and replaced my tired 1986 Deckel FP2NC with a DN Solutions DEM4000. The machine showed up in light drizzle yesterday. Vierra Trucking out of Castro Valley handled the shipping and rigging. They did a great job and I highly recommend them.
May garage ceiling is max...
Anyone happen to know the thread size & sex for the air connection on a DEM 4000? I don't see it on the installation drawing. (It was hard enough to even find the location on the layout drawings to be able to position the air and power drops in the shop.)
What are good ways to run, say, 1/4" or 3/8" air line to the table in a 30x16 enclosed VMC? I want something that will survive the movement, chips, and not get caught on something. What hose is good? I searched PM and did not get any relevant hits. Thanks!
If I start my modular 10ee with the pot set at a target speed below about 2000 RPM, it accelerates hard, overshoots a little, and settles in at the set speed. If I then increase the set point, the speed increases, but starts to get unstable above perhaps 3000 RPM. If I start it with the pot set...
What's the skinny on current new bandsaws equivalent to our 30-year-old DoAll TF-1421? That saw is getting to the point where it's no longer economical to chase its problems. It is a great saw for us due to its capacity and versatility. We are a failure analysis shop, and every day we are...
I ordered a Schneider Square D 54-space 1-ph QO panel back in August from Gordon Electric, and kept getting delivery kicked down the road. I call them today, and now they tell me they have other customers' orders for it extending back to April. I gave up and canceled the order. I need to...
I replaced the C16J tubes and module in my 10EE with Scissio parts, so now I have at least two and probably four working tubes and a module as surplus. I also have an extra QSD relay. How about $100 for the four tubes and $25 for the module including ground shipping in the CONUS. The QSD is free...
I am looking at finally ditching the antique Deckel FP2NC and getting a VMC. I do onesy-twosy work, but don't mind a VMC for that. I started looking at compact machines that might get under my low doorway, like Hurco VM ONE, VM10i, Trak TMC 5, Haas TM-0P, Haas Mini-Mill, and then I found the...
I think at least the six-pack battery in the bottom of the console is getting tired. The control crashed a couple times lately without losing stored programs, but then it crashed hard enough last night that I had to to the BA 16 reset. I last replaced the batteries in 2009, and the six-pack is...
One of the push buttons on my Aciera F5 caved in yesterday. Anybody have recommendations for a replacement? I see lots of round switches, but am coming up empty on industrial square switches.

I have the vertical table accessory that fits my F4 and F5. I have rarely used it, but recently had a good opportunity when boring the cylinder on a 1/2-scale Olds hit-and-miss engine. The neat things about the table are that its mounting is highly repeatable and its top edge is parallel to the...
I am looking for a Lisle model 16000 portable hone to finish a 1-7/8" bore. With the right stones, that model goes down to 1-3/4". The more common Lisle 15000 is too big. PM me if you've got a 16000 gathering cobwebs. Thanks!
