FS: Rockwell Surface Grinder and accessories

A few years ago, I picked up a surface grinder, planning to do all the cool restoration. Fast-forward to today, and it just ain't gonna happen, so it's time to let it go. This is a 5x10. I can't give a date or serial number, since there are no badges. The previous owner rebuilt it, powder...

Can anyone help me i.d. this old, huge lathe?

It's been my observation that if a tool name contains the words "pro," "master," or "industrial," it probably ain't.

    Advice on Japanese pull-saws.

I love them. I just buy the cheapies, because I always manage to screw them up. Easy to replace at the big box. I just can't see spending the major bucks for a "made by a master" Japanese tools. I'm not that good!

Double-Strike Issue on Coin Stamping Drop Hammer

I though the dead-blow hammers had the lead in some sort of oil or other suspension, so that they would hit slightly after the initial strike, and hold down the bounce. Have I been wrong? It seems that just putting a bucket of lead shot on top of the ram would, in effect, just make a heavier...

Miter saw or portable table saw?

Table saw to rip, miter saw to crosscut. That being said, they both have their strong points, and they both have their limitations. And of course, the radial arm saw combines the bad points of both. Until you get up to a Unisaw or (better stll) a panel, saw, the track saws are probably the most...

OT: Testosterone supplements and the prostate

So, she took the money. He gave her the address, and told her to paint the porch green. When he got home, the porch was the same color it had been. When he ran into her at the bar that night, he asked her about it. She said, “I painted it. But it’s not a porch, it’s a Mercedes...”

    OT,,,but maybe not,,,Machinist Tattoo's

I have one. Remember, I’m a woodworker, not a machinist. In my late 40’s, I got a tattoo of a Japanese master temple builder, copied from a 12th or 13th century scroll. I just turned 69, and I don’t regret it for a moment. On the other hand, have you noticed that almost nobody has two tattoos...

OT. How Do I find underground water leak?

Had a leak years ago at my house in Baltimore. Plumber came out with two youngsters with shovels, and they dug up a good bit of the yard to find it. Turns out a small pebble had been forced against the copper, probably by freeze/thaw, and holed the pipe.
