Hey guys!
I have a family of clevises, or hinge-type parts that I'm designing fixturing for. This is a semi-close representation of what will be machined, For size reference, this part is around 6.5" tall and 8" square base.
Some parts are ss and some are structural steel. Some may only have...
Just a public announcement addressing the setting on Haas mills > h&t code agreement. This is supposed to alarm out if your tool # and your G43 h# do Not match.
We learned yesterday that they ignore this setting if the "H" number is 0.
Cost a facemill and a portion of a brand new Orange Vise...
Hello all,
I've been tasked with machining some thin wall (.062") 1.2" x 1.2" parts shaped similar to L-shaped angle. Some have a "joggle" in them (think airframe parts). This will be done on 3 axis machining center. I'm in the planning phase on how I will hold these and was wondering if...
Hey guy's, hope everyone is doing well and making lotsa $$$
Anyways, I've somehow dodged the whole HFM craze, but I have a good application for a 4130 part. I ordered a 32mm ISCAR HELIDO UPFEED 4 flute inserted cutter along with the appropriate inserts for the material.
It's one of the M16...
Last week we received our new mill, 10k spindle, 30SMTC, Probing, HSM, and 4th AX drive. I started assembling some of it since the Tech is gonna be another week....
My question to ya'll is which side to mount my Rotary and which side for the Renishaw?
It's gonna be a little while before we get...
Just placed an order from OrangeVise for two- 6" x 17.5" single station vises and one of the compact 4" x 6" 5-axis vises. The compact vise is going to be paired with our HRT210HT via the OrangeVise Delta Zero Point System.
Anyone have any first-hand experience with these?
Thanks,
I have a print where there is an o-ring groove on the face. It specifies the small diameter at 1.125 with a .01" positional MMC and the large diameter at 1.415 same positional tolerance. The dimensions aren't boxed in so I'm guessing you use the general ±.005" tolerance.
Should I make the...
2006 Chevy Z71 156K miles. I had most of the front end rebuilt two weeks ago (tie rods, ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm assy). When the mechanic was finished truck wouldn't start, jumped it off. Later replaced with a new battery and also went dead. First thing I checked was alternator...
Is there a semi affordable way to measure the length of a 72" long shaft @ ± .01"
Our half ass measuring department doesn't have anything close enough. Our lathe does have a DRO, but not enough travel.
I have a application (rigid set-up in a cnc) where I want to Lightly face some hardened steel (45Rc). This will be a custom shop made "flycutter".
I was thinking of using a CCMT style insert that is CBN tipped. I know a coated carbide insert will work, but I need some longevity and a 32finish...
We have a set of USA made hss counterbore tools for #6 through 5/8" SHCS. I don't use them too much as my cnc mills don't Usually require them as I can interpolate holes.
On bridgeport or manual lathe days they're indispensable! Several of them have gotten dull over the years, and they are...
Until yesterday I had only test fired my 50 to check for any flaws or problems. It is a single shot, using a Sate Arms bolt and a custom receiver I made out of 4140 @ 44Rc. I finally got around to attaching a scope and decided to see what it'll do.
I boresighted it as well as I could and set up...
I came across a what I'm pretty sure is a Mauser KKW 22LR. It has a updated sporter stock and a really nice peep sight. The rifle itself looks almost Unused and the bore is perfect.
I can't find too much info on these rifles, would anyone care to throw a price out there for this gun? I know...
Always finding myself fiddling with mixing collets and holders to try and get <.0004" runout for small endmills (.125" and .250").
Who can recommend a Good toolholder style and brand with that clamping range <0.250". I don't wanna go Heat Shrink, Cannot justify the cost at the moment.
The...
Either 1/16" or 1.5mm EM with a .086" length of cut minimum and .005 to .01" Corner R
I'm milling (shallow slotting up to a wall) hardened steel around 45 Rc and the Coated HarveyTool endmills juts ain't lasting like they should. Yes I've been on the phone with them numerous times. A $26...
Ok, let just say I have already tried the hot dog cart and I'm tired of it :D
I have a very good "day job" as a CNC Programmer / machinist with all the benefits, insurance, and good pay. YES I'm keeping this job.
I have a really nice shop at home 40'x60' red iron metal building that I do fab...
Light finishing 4140 @ 45Rc
Iscar Dove IQ mill 2" five tooth facemill
Brand new arbor, stout machine, and using airblast
Using the IC830 square inserts with 8 cutting edges.
Recommended cutting data is .008" - .079" DOC and .005 to .011 CLPT and 270 to 580 SFM
I'm getting a decent finish at...
So I'm stuck with this long run of parts that's basically gonna take a couple thousand dollars in endmills to complete. I had Harvey Tool to grind us up some specials for the oddball features (I will add +10000000 to Harvey).
I'm in charge of the programming, running, inspecting, and requesting...
I have to make three different size "pins" to locate part of an assembly. Roughly 4-1/4" in length a 9/16", 7/16", and 15.5mm
The pins with be subjected to a side "hammering" load (think gun recoil ~ 500 per/min). Over half the length of the pins will be in supported material.
I know the...
