    is the Deckel FP2 high-speed head redundant if one owns the fine boring head?

    Of course, the Fine Boring head will have a reach problem, when used with a 2037 table or other like it, I guess. So, at least if you don't have the long reach standard head, a High Speed head is nice to have. I can't be sure though, as I still haven't used my 2037 with the Fine Boring head.

    As a fellow Chipmaster owner I believe you should buy a large amount at a great price - and sell some or even most of it to other KOPP variator owners, of course...;) Yes, it's now the preferred oil for the headstock, too.

    Of course you have to open it..... You need to know the condition. Mind the gasket. I think I used some Loctite gasket stuff - but I don't really remember.

    I have the a test paper of my 500mm X travel FP2. The test paper show it was done in december 1966 before delivery to Ford in Cologne (Köln). And I have seen 400mm single dial FP2s claimed to be from from 1967. So the model change must be early 1967. Cheers Erik

    Hi Paul and John. I guess there must be a very good reason why Allspeeds variators require that oil. After all, they don't sell it themselves and therefore make no profit off it.
