Pressing in a Blanchard 11 upper spindle bearing
Blanchard had a joint venture with a company in the UK, I believe the castings would be done in the USA, then shipped over for UK/Europe electrics. you can always tell these because there will be a crown on the blanchard logo.- cash

Granite surface plate cleaner?
yes, it is a 72" x 144". It is inspected to grade AA, I grind precision parallels and need it as good as I can get. After the first 2 years, it has really stayed put and it needs minimal touch up upon re certification. -
Granite surface plate cleaner?
Every now and then I will wipe my plate clean and cover in in Lanolin. This will take several hours then to soak in. I am told it is to help the plate from "staining", like when using pigment for scraping. I would say it may help, but in no way prevents.... Here is an old Instagram... -

I just bought some Starrett. We will see. The DO-All after wiping would stay wet for about 30-45 seconds. Then dry and no residue left. this is why I liked it. I would use a brown paper towel for wipinng, it would always be black from dirt, so it was cleaning the granite. -

I have been looking for some cleaner. For years I used the DO-ALL surface plate cleaner, I absolutely love it, problem is you can not get it right now! My inspectors use 409 cleaner. When my DO-ALL was getting low, I mixed with some windex. I can understand stories where people may say... -
Double Disk - Vertical?
A shop in Milwaukee has one of these, I was in there a couple years ago. I believe they did hydraulic parts. I thought it was a bit of an odd set up, but the machine got the job done.- cash

Using a Wire Mic to check straightness
I used to use that exact type of set up, the old timers from Mattison used a scope exactly like this. Once I was introduced to a wire mic I was sold. Mobil Vactra #2 Shortage??
If they are hardened, the mfg's all state standard 68 wt oil, Vactra 2 or equivilant. But all the old skool cast iron way machines, you will want to use oil with a tackifier. -

It was a knock off brand. the tackifier they used clogged up my meter units on 3 mattison grinders. We had to clean the lube system and rescrap the tables. -

I tried another brand once and got burned, bad. I know Mobil is a bit more $$, but better than tearing apart a machine. Another large machine shop in Rockford has the same feelings about different oils, I asked them if they would switch and they said no way. -

We will use 1409 in a pinch, it has the tackifiers, which for box way machine tools, CNC is not needed, but will not hurt. -
