Should lathe bed be accurately fitted to a heavy cast cabinet?

Many VMC don't have 3 points. I use a. Tapered sliding wedge leveling jack as. A 3rd point. On your lathe bed use it as is. Or use your imaginatio.

Ensuring the coat of prussian blue on the granite is thick enough, but not too thick

Email the seller and ask him. I used to use a tapered white felt to blue up dovetails. Once the felt gets worn and shiny the lint gets rubbed off. I also use cows leather or a shortened paint brush. In Germany Biax company they sell a tube type blue made by Diament. They also sold Canode...

Should lathe bed be accurately fitted to a heavy cast cabinet?

I have used the 3 point method even when it's not there. In my humble opinion Hardinge and Monarch are better machines then a Scbhublin. I saw several in Europe.

    Tormach's revenge

I did some consulting at Tormach 5 years ago and back then their machines were made in China. Possibly the guards were made someplace else. Tormach filled a gap where no other builder did. Tormach was founded by a Hobbyist machinist and his friend who could not buy a small CNC mill.

The closer to the election, Biden is bringing back Trump had in place. Or talking about bringing some back. Tariffs, building the wall, etc. Sounds like BS to try to get unions to vote for him. Weiy are in a mess this election season. I'm voting for the best one. Sighhhh

Should lathe bed be accurately fitted to a heavy cast cabinet?

Did the factory that built it, scrape it? You can scrape it. The tapped holes may have pulled out the iron around the holes so check that. It's a precision lathe as is a Monarch EE and Rivett lathes. Their base sits on the floor on built into the base casting 3 points to eliminate the...

    Chevalier CGP-1224 Hydraulic Cylindrical Grinder

You need a crank grinder as there are special headstock on it that adjust to off set. A plain cylindrical grinder has a tailstock and headstock that don't adjust. I'm not an expert on model numbers. Post a photo. Or you look it up and compare pictures to a Van Norman crankshaft grinder.

Dura Bar to make Cast Iron for Straight edges

We were talking about extruded iron that I recommend to make parallels out of. I have been buying from Dura-Bar for over 30 years. I make the test pieces my students use during the scraping classes. I have patterns to make camelback straight edges as do a few other members. I also used to...

Have Canode upped their game yet?

I use the orange, red or orange pigment as we used to use red lead. A highlighter or it dulls the iron from being shiny. Not on the granite plate. NB should remember as he's take 2 or 3 of my classes at Steve Watkins in Texas. I let the students test the yellow, red and orange color to be...
