i am looking for ideas as to how make carbide rifling buttons. how can we machine the grooves in the button?

I have a Nardini lathe with a Fanuc 20-TA control and i am trying to cut a left hand thread. I fill out the form for threading Z1=0. then Z2=1.00. I now get an alarm stating Z2 is larger than Z1. and i can't get any farther. I wish to thread from left to right
