    f/s 5-c x 5 morse taper collet adapters

I'll take the better looking 5MT/5c w/ the sheared pin. I have a 6MT headstock but have never seen a 5C adapter for it. So will use a reducing sleeve in a pinch. I'll also take the 6MT to 4MT sleeve. $55 + $6 post (still same?) = $61. How to pay?

KO Lee B360 T&C table repair

I have the B955 head which can have the spindle and pulleys flipped L to R to get over one far end of the table or the other if necessary. Since I have to swivel the column head mount anyway, I'm going to have to reset the Z height for the far pad at a minimum. The outer table sides are cast...

KO Lee B360 T&C table repair

4GSR: It does NOT look like that. Mine has a one flat and one V way on both X and Y axis that contact full length - just like a lathe or a bridgeport. No bearings (roller or ball) anywhere. I don't know how to say this more clearly: There is NOTHING wrong w/ the ways now. They print/blue...

KO Lee B360 T&C table repair

More info is in order. Prior owner had the rear X way oiling fail as I had mentioned. Grit in the wells locked the oiling wheels and wore a flat on them so they didn't turn:( That caused a LOT of damage to the rear flat way. They kept using it doing rotary work so probably went unnoticed by...

KO Lee B360 T&C table repair

Looking to the folks who have run or repaired grinders for advice. I would normally ask the expert who originally did the work but he sadly is no longer with us:( I have a KO Lee B360 tool and cutter grinder that had the ways reground and scraped a couple years back. I FINALLY got a little...

Which aluminum alloy best for bending? Using thin sheet.

Not 6061 (especially in T6). Easily cracks if bent along the 'grain'. Across the grain can work ok, but one of the other alloys is probably a far better choice.

How do you remove the sightglass from a LeBlond Regal headstock?

x2 on just getting a new one from bijur. I bought several for my R15 and just replaced them all. The apron hole was thru-bored so I could just knock it all the way in and then fish it out. The headstock one is counter bored so that wouldn't work and I couldn't easily get to the back of it so...

    Evaporust vs electolysis and discussion

You have proof of that? Would be pretty darn difficult and still keep it PH neutral.

Need help on aluminum casting quote

As pictures, yes, but if some simplifications were allowed it would become drastically simpler. Castings can do things 'just because they can' to save weight (which = $$$ in aluminum) which aren't practical when machined. The ends & webs both being undercut/hollowed out are the big ones. Easy...

Large (unusual) Atlas Shaper (German made?) – seeking information

Yes, PS is german (metric) horsepower so there is a very slight difference to english hp. Was technically obsoleted by the kW but you still see it in some car literature.

How tight is an end mill holder supposed to fit?

They are supposed to TIGHT. For every X diameter mismatch, the end mill flutes will have a X chip load mismatch since it is being clamped off center. Before you know it, the end mill is off to one side by over a thou even in a good one (couple tenths from the holder, couple tenths from the...

How tight is an end mill holder supposed to fit?

Holder should have an H class fit (-0, +x.) So its supposed to be zero to slightly larger than the specified size. You've got one that should have failed the (likely non-existent) QC. End mills are supposed to be +0, -y. The fit should be VERY close on well made parts but they will slide...

Air Compressor Air Intake Mufflers? Decibel Comparisons?

I dont think there is anything that can be done to quiet an oil-less compressor appreciably. Its ALL been tried. The most cost effective solution is to get a different compressor - one that uses oil;)

Putting together my plan to recondition/scrape my lathe

x2, why scrape a ground bed. I know the old SB9s I've owned had a scraped bed, but better/newer lathes leave them ground. My sheldon R15 is ground. Im pretty sure a 10EE is ground. I think (but am not sure) a HLVH is ground. The mating parts (headstock, saddle, tailstock) are scraped to fit...

Dividing Head set up for a Bridgeport ?

The BP horiz setup prob wouldn't work for high helixes. But neither would a dedicated horizontal machine. I've only seem a Hardinge UM and not something like a big Cincinnati but it doesn't appear their universal tables can swing very much. The majority of gears use a pretty small helix...

Sheldon Model L- Owned by a complete and utter noob

Thats the backgear, not the bullgear on the spindle. Your backgear is in good shape right? (best I can tell from the pics.) Its the bullgear on the spindle thats destroyed. It should be fairly easy to fix that one. You're going to have to learn a little about gears to move forward...
