1/2” Garr VRX in 65 HRC D2

Yesterday I got 6 hrs 48 mins out of one 1/2” Garr VRX endmill in 65 RHC D2 plate. Had to mill four .800” x 1.5” slots .750” deep. Had a .750” start holes. Dynamic tool path on MasterCam2021. Speeds/feeds 575 RPM 2.76 IPM. By far the longest I’ve had a single endmill go without failure. Last slot the EM started making that certain noise before catastrophe lol but she held on for the finish
 
I run the VRX as well mainly in 316 and 2205, tried quite a few others, some more expensive and I keep going back to it, way better life, less chatter, predictable, ROI is excellent.
 
That's pretty badass. I ran the numbers back and you basically ran that E/M like it was HSS in 4140ph....except there are about 35 more HRC's to deal with. :)
