1943 ,16"er, mystrey bolt ,from carriage,1/2-13X1"

I was running her and I heard a clunk in chip pan, is there a bolt such as this in carraige assm.?if so where?

I had the carriage off before,twas after a sheared pin,dont recall 1/2 bolts,I see some 3/8s lookin bolts,cant see much kneeling on the floor,lookin thru bifocals...

There are no 1/2"-13 by 1" bolts on the original apron or saddle. There should be 3 gib holding bolts on the underside of the rear of the saddle. Those bolts are (should be) 3/8"-16 by 1-3/4". Just check to see if there are still three bolts holding down the gib in the back. If they are there, just hold on to the bolt and see if one turns up missing someday. Check the follower rest mounting area (at the tailstock end of the saddle) to see if that bolt fits the holes. Sometimes, previous owners will drill and tap a follower rest mounting area at the front of the saddle, so check that area too.

thank you for this information, the machine ran fine after finding bolt, Job needed done, I felt chitty running
her, I finished the job,now this bolt wont naw at me.
