Automation will never replace me

40 years back I was part of a project by the big burger place building a fully automated system.
The very costly system could do it all front to back.
Seems the customers wanted friendly faces rather than robots and it was given up on.
Now they want food the other way.

Well, the engineers shouldn't have programmed the robots to spit in the customers' food.

It's a matter of when, not if. Might take a few hundred years, in which case you won't have to worry about it unless you're young, seriously invest in life extension technologies, and get really lucky.

Might take 20 years, in which case, better be saving for retirement.

Some have already been replaced.

As well as the aforementioned bar feeders, robot tenders, and pallet pools.

You remember John Henry?

I think Whitecastle doing that is very interesting because there are a lot of places which can step up to Automation in this way. It is taking into consideration how our machines have improved our lives from making everything by hand.
