Brother HS-50 servo problems

I have a problem in our Brother HS-50A wire EDM machine.

X and Y axes stop for an alarm. When moved manually, axis stops easily for this error when gripping the lead screw by hand. It's seems that motors have rather low force. Power supply of servo cards shows 24 VDC and no drop seen. I have also swapped the XY servo card from working machine, but problem persists. We had similar problem earlier in Z-axis, and we found that motor brushes were jammed, but we cannot find any problem from other motors.

Any idea what's wrong in our machine.

Is the machine exceeding the user defined X/Y limits and hitting the machine stops (micro switches)?

Enekos, I recently acquired a Brother HS-100 which is same era
as your HS-50. Mine is not up and running yet. The guy I got it from said he had the same problem you describe. The fix was to clean and lubricate the linear slides and ball screws. He said the lube had become gummy and hard perhaps from temp, time or dust. What he cleaned with or lubed with he did not say. Cool old machines, I hope you get it working.
