This is a clever adaptation. Wonder if it ever was used.

Not sure how the headstock was powered. Looks like a grease cap was installed.

Wow that's amazing. Somebody cut a lathe bed in half, and attached the one side vertically to the other one. The spindle is mounted to the carriage, and the horizontal feed looks like it came from the crossfeed assembly and the lead screw. Remarkable shade-tree engineering.
The odd thing is . . . . it does not look like the original headstock was used. And the pulleys were covered over somehow, losing the variable speed feature.
