Greetings everyone.

We have a Daewoo DMV-4020 that doesn't like to release tools during tool change operations. Years ago I ran a Mazak VTC-20 that had a similar issue and the Mazak tech said our "knock-out" stroke needed adjusting.

My question is: Does our Daewoo have a similar knock-out function? I've looked at the parts book but nothing seems apparent. I've cleaned all the CAT-40 holders and the taper inside the spindle. Air pressure is good.

Thanks for your time.

Knockout is standard procedure, and pretty damnd important. On the 30 taper mills I have checked it on it was around .02". It is easy to measure, how much does it have?

As near as I can tell it doesn't have any. The tool arm has to physically pull it out of the spindle. It hasn't really been a problem until the last 6 months or so. I'm guessing the mechanism is wearing and needs to be adjusted.

Sometimes the internal collet will stick and not release correctly due to coolant gunk and such, or sometimes just wear.
The arm also has springs on the claws that wear after a number of years.
