Hey guys! I am excited to have a Deckel FP2!! It's been on my wish list for a while but not my budget. I don't see a lot of them in the US. There was an estate auction in Eugene Oregon that had an FP2. It looked pretty clean in the few photos but was pretty bare. Just the machine with the boring/drilling head. The vise is a Verti-vise. Later in the auction they had two tables:

Then there was a "jacobs" lot with jacobs arbors. The lot also had 3 deckel collets (5/8, 3/4, and 1inch), a 40taper to R8 adapter, 40taper to deckel w16 collet adapter, and a 40 to 30 taper adapter.

Once I got the mill I got both tables and the jacobs lot.

I had wished it had more goodies but with the rarity I figured I'd take what I could get.

I talked to them after the auction and asked if there was an electrical cabinet. To my surprise he said yes!!

He said it was there as was a "dovetail piece"!! He sent me pics and it was the overarm!!. He wasn't aware of the overarm support though. To my surprise, when I got there to pick up the machine the overarm support was there!!

Well since I knew I'd have to drive from SoCal to Eugene I picked up a few other goodies:

I grew up about 40 min from Eugene so I headed out early Saturday morning after the auction and 14hrs later was at my step mom's house. I went and picked up the machine on Monday. Dropped it off at a guys place about an hour south of Eugene so that I wouldn't have to drive all week with it in the back of the truck. I picked up a Beverly Shear up in Seattle and visited family then the following Saturday I drove home.

Can someone let me know what this dovetail part is for?

I haven't had a chance to test run it yet. I had a trip to Vegas this week but soon hopefully!!

Now the hunt is on for a vert head and other useful accessories!!

What i can see looks OK. You can't tell us all about the auction and not torture us by letting us in on the smoking deal you got.
Guessing since you did not mention it, that there is no vertical milling head, pity.
You can do "light" milling with the precision boring head....wouldn't go over 3/8 or 1/2" tools, light depth and step over depending on the material.
Good that you got the electrical cabinet. Nice to have both tables.
Is the machine metric or inch?
Have fun.....
Cheers Ross

Don’t think so, his last picture shows the attachment point for the gage block holder. Could be wrong, but I think that’s what he’s asking?

funny enough, I have two of the gageblock holders… long story…

Ross,

The machine is an Inch machine. I don't think there's such a thing as a smoking deal on Deckels lol. But for the curious: the machine was $4k, tables $495 and $220 for the "jacobs' lot. no sales tax in Oregon and 10% buyer premium.

Price is a bit steep accoding euro standards without the vert milling head

Peter,
yeah, it hurt a little. the last FP2 I saw at auction went for a little over $15k but it had the cabinet and several accessories including the vertical head. Hopefully I'll score a deal on a vertical head and at the end of the day the overall price will even out.

Not for the gage block but for holding the optical measuring device OPL
Peter
Peter, I have an FP2 with this holder. It is for gage block attachment, which I also have. Optical looks different.
Well, actually, the carriage dovetail holder accepts either the gauge-block holder or the optical measuring device assembly.
Not that it really matters in any case, it'll end in a box, it's 2023, he'll fit a DRO 😋

Can you post pics? I intend to fit 0-80mm and maybe 0-100mm DIs to my ALG-100, these have respectively 58 and 78mm dials.
Any suggestion will help me doing it right.
