I’m trying to install this drum switch on my lathe but can’t seem to figure out what wires to hook up. I’m hooking it up to 110v. It’s a old century repulsion induction motor with 4 wires hanging out of it. There are no markings on wires so I’ve tested them and figured out which ones go together for the winding’s beyond that I can’t figure them out. It does run fine when hooked up directly to outlet. I tried to hook it to switch and can only get it to run forward not reverse. Any help would be appreciated!8AE4B04E-DA5A-4E40-940A-AC1482863057.jpeg190AF244-C13E-4565-B5AC-9FB5FFA48984.jpegD3C2EFBF-AF08-4753-BF83-BB558C90921A.jpeg2234B371-B86E-4A42-A3B1-D528546081B4.jpeg

Repulsion start, induction run (probably what you have) motors cannot be reversed by changing any wiring connections via a drum switch. They typically have brush shifters that reverse the start direction. An example, your motor may have something similar, look for it:

The two index marks on the casting are barely visible between the two oil cups. The lever inside can be shifted side to side to reverse the rotation. This motor has four wires - in series the motor runs on 240, when put in parallel it runs on 120.

Ok thanks for the answer!
