Fanuc PCMCIA to USB

My machine has the Fanuc series 18i-mb control panel. It has an old pcmcia connector for uploading programs. Without any expensive upgrading, i'd like to just use an adaptor to be able to use a usb.
would a CardBus made for laptops work?
Note: i only want usb, not any other flash cards. TIA

It is a nice idea but this will not work for a myriad of reasons, one of the largest is that you can not install drivers for this card on your control. We are working on a device to solve this problem, it should be available in the next few months.

Does it also have an RS232? Because there are USB adapters for those.

I've seen folk use those on older Fanuc controls with success.

Yeap, we had 5 or so of them on our older Fanuc wire edms.

compact flash cards are better than USB Thumb Drives for one important reason.

No one wants to steal the CF cards.

I buy ten USb sticks a year and can never find more than 4 in the building.
