Still trying to make up my mind wheter to buy an FP1 with metric dials and just wondering how much that might negatively affect the value of the machine in the USA. Anyone know ?

Sorry for not getting back to you on this one Don... busy as h*ll here.
I'm actually the wrong person to ask about this because I never use dials. Slap a DRO on 'er and go to town. Any DROless machine in my shop is in line to get one.
I suppose for the squinting dial folks, the metric dials would probably remove about 20% from the value of the machine...which still should approach 4 grand for that vintage in that condition.
Maybe if you bought it for re-sale, you would luck out and get a couple european transplant machinists who prefer to work in metric bidding on it. They do seem to exist.
For the Deckel purist...it doesn't get any more pure than that, but then again, the Deckel purist probably would take issue with the paint...even though I personally like it.

As Kermit would say "It's not easy being green", but I personally get sick of grey.

P.S. From a topic long past... it is "Grey", not "Gray"
