Hamas strike on Israel.

Even if they weren't, they* were either willfully harboring, or at the very least - not ferreting them out on their own.

Prior to this conflict trying to resist Hamas, either passively or with force maybe the best way of reducing one's life expectancy in Gaza.

Well at least until now.

And this is why Mexico doesn't put up much effort to eradicate cartels.

If they really wanted to rid them, I am sure that there would be a task force on the West side, even if they were only in efforts to communicate with those on the East side, and let them take them out. But that's not really the case - now is it?

Time to reduce aid to Isreal. lets face it, are they anybodies friend anymore?
Well just two years ago the head of the CIA thanked Israel intelligence for saving hundreds of American soldiers in iraq by alerting them before a major drone/missile attack after the qasem suleiman assassination

It wasn't the first time we helped the USA

Mexico is waaaaaaay past the point they could eradicate the cartels.

Your a local police chief who vows to take on the cartel.
The Cartel announce over the radio they would be targeting policeman. Within a few hours a couple of policeman would be hanging from a bridge, or their heads would be left on the street outside a school. Happened in Tijuana. So where's the incentive?

The Zetas were ex Mex special forces. It would be safe to assume there are cartel members who were in the Mex Army/Marines who left after getting well trained in military tactics and weapons. You want to be trying to eradicate them? Braver man then me.

from the article

One witness told Telemundo in 2019 that within the hitman — or sicario — training camps run by the CJNG, there were a number of deserters from both the Mexican and the US armed forces.

“The high command bought marines from an elite group,” the witness, known only as Francisco, said, claiming there were former “navys”, or Navy Seals, as well as ex-members of Delta Force at the camps.

Former US soldiers are reportedly highly desirable recruits due to their special set of skills, including the abilities and knowledge required to carry out contract killings and other special missions.

A 2011 FBI intelligence bulletin indicated that at least one criminal group, Los Zetas, has focused recruitment on people with prior specialised training, such as ex-military and ex-law enforcement officers, and not on US-based gangs, to “maintain a highly disciplined and structured hierarchy”.

All the Federales say they could have had him any day.
"We only let him slip away, out of kindness, I suppose."

Kindness, not intimidation.

Are we talking about the same Israel that spied on the USA?

from the article

When Jonathan Pollard was convicted of espionage in 1987, he became the first American to go to jail for life for passing secrets to a U.S. ally. The top-secret information Pollard passed on to Israel is so vast and damaging, the complete list of files is itself top secret. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

There are few things both liberals and conservatives agree on these days, but keeping Pollard in prison for the rest of his life was one of them. Yet, he was released in 2015 and quickly made his way to Israel -- where he received a hero’s welcome.

So the traitor received a hero's welcome in Israel. The same Israel who's supposed to be a friend of the USA?

from the article

A recent report on the US news site Politico revealed that in 2017, US intelligence agencies discovered several cell phone interception devices near the White House. They concluded that Israel had most likely installed these “StingRay” spying devices, in an attempt to listen in on President Donald Trump’s phone calls.

The Politico report was based on three good (albeit anonymous) sources, people whom the site characterised as former senior US officials with knowledge of the affair. It was denied by Israel. However, this was not remotely credible, for reasons I will return to below.

According to the report, when the Trump administration was alerted in 2017 to the discovery of the blatant Israeli spying operation, officials did nothing. “There were no consequences for Israel’s behaviour,” Politico explained.

These revelations may be shocking to many people. They comes as no surprise whatsoever, though, to anyone familiar with the reality of Israeli spying on its supposed Western allies. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s laughable denial of the report – “I have a directive: No intelligence work in the United States, no spies” – is in clear contradiction to the long, proven history of Israeli spying in and on America.

Exactly the same Israel
The one that lost thousands of lives
For islamic terrorist acts
Trying to satisfy the american will for "peace in the middle east"
"Two state solution"
And all of the rest of that unicorn crap

Look, just until two months ago me and most israelis I know really thought those "american dreams" were good ideas

When a hamas girl dies in a suicide bombing or what not do they put up posters and call her a martyr and say she is now enjoying 72 virgin boys in heaven? Do her parents proudly say she has endless fun in heaven with those virgin boys now because she was such a good girl here on earth. Since she is dead I would think the posters would show her without the burka or probably no clothes at all as encouragement to the living to get to heaven and enjoy those virgins.

My spidey sense tells me that there may some disinformation afoot, but I could be wrong.

But you go ahead and believe everything the media tells you about those evil Israelis.
So You would have been happy with the Brit's demolishing an apartment block or two, because there was (probably/possibly) a Noraid contributor living there???

You rounded up and put in concentration camps the Boer women and children because they might be assisting their menfolk. Mote, log, eye.

I'm not happy about blowing up apartment blocks but I do understand the reasoning behind it. Same as counterfire on missile launches which is why I was happy that Iron Dome seemed to work well. The best solution to rocket barrages is to ensure none of them can reach their targets rendering them futile.

Now if the debris falls on or near the launch site and kills innocents, that's on the heads of the people launching the rockets. I'd be sad about the deaths but I'd know who was responsible for them. Fuck about, find out. Actions have consequences.

Honestly, I can see little difference in the government entity called "hamas" than any other state entity. Strictly in the senses of physical actions.

Consider hamas and any other government:

Both are responsible for actions not supported by the people it supposedly represents
Both sends it's citizens to be killed for a cause that is not necessarily the true cause.
Both force or excite it's own peoples to perform acts for the governments ends, not the peoples.
Both use the weapons available to them to enact mayhem, violence and atrocity.
Both tax, limit and deceive it's own people.
Both are self serving power mongers.

Go ahead, show the difference, Pick your government.

The big difference in this case, is the Israelis are involved.
Not the Ukrainians, Not the Russians in Donbas, not the Sudanese, not the Rohingya, Not the Uyghurs, not the Kurds, Not the Armenians, not the Guyanas, not the Nicaraguans, not the Libyans. not the people of Niger.

Ask, "What is Different?

Certainly shit, really it's sadistic in a 21st century way
they drop leaflets that have QR codes that you scan to see what neighbourhood is going to get levelled next.
Assumes you have a smartphone
Assumes you have a connection.

No cell phone, no connection, means you have no idea an Isreali smart bomb isn't going to drop on your house and wipe out multiple generations of the same family

From the article

Israeli grid maps make life in Gaza ‘macabre game of Battleships’, say aid workers

Online system designed to order precise evacuations inaccessible to those without power or network access

Israel has started using its new grid system for evacuation warnings, which breaks Gaza down into more than 600 blocks, and can be accessed through a QR code on leaflets and social media posts.

They’re not even their own friends.

Look how many Palestinians are dead. Were they all Hamas ? Even the children ? What can’t speak can’t lie. That must be a really shit system the Israelis have.

Regards Tyrone
The IDF will ignore killing a few innocent kids to take out a key Hamas fighter.

Not something I heard on a news report. But very likely a common thought.
More bang for the buck.
A preemptive strike on the next generation Hamas volunteers. Probably a common thought in the IDF.
"eliminate now so my children don't have to fight them".

The reason you hear about the so-called underground bunkers is because the Israelis helped build those rooms in the 80's.
I wouldn't call a few rooms with some toilets and a few operating tables and beds a bunker complex.

Thank you for asking:):D

Who remembers what Gen Wesley Clark said some time ago? Almost all of his list has been completed, one big one still remaining, IIRC.
It sure seems that the standard USA tactic of instigating the wanted "enemy" into making an obvious military attack is what is happening again. The rest of the world is aware of that tactic and do not seem eager to take the bait.

Here is a little summary I saw on one of the articles:

Arnaud Bertrand
@RnaudBertrand
WOW, this might be THE most important piece of journalism on the war on Gaza since it began, by Israeli newspaper @972mag
:
Essentially they confirm, with unimpeachable sourcing, that the killing of civilians was all calculated and intentional.

Their investigation is "based on conversations with seven current and former members of Israel’s intelligence community — including military intelligence and air force personnel who were involved in Israeli operations in the besieged Strip — in addition to Palestinian testimonies, data, and documentation from the Gaza Strip, and official statements by the IDF Spokesperson and other Israeli state institutions."

What the investigation reveals is that "the Israeli army has files on the vast majority of potential targets in Gaza — including homes — which stipulate the number of civilians who are likely to be killed in an attack on a particular target. This number is calculated and known in advance to the army’s intelligence units, who also know shortly before carrying out an attack roughly how many civilians are certain to be killed."

One source told them: "Nothing happens by accident. When a 3-year-old girl is killed in a home in Gaza, it’s because someone in the army decided it wasn’t a big deal for her to be killed — that it was a price worth paying in order to hit [another] target. We are not Hamas. These are not random rockets. Everything is intentional. We know exactly how much collateral damage there is in every home."

Even more dystopian - and this might be a first in the history of warfare - a lot of the targets are identified by AI: for instance they "use of a system called 'Habsora' ('The Gospel'), which is largely built on artificial intelligence and can 'generate' targets almost automatically at a rate that far exceeds what was previously possible. This AI system, as described by a former intelligence officer, essentially facilitates a 'mass assassination factory.' According to the sources, the increasing use of AI-based systems like Habsora allows the army to carry out strikes on residential homes where a single Hamas member lives on a massive scale, even those who are junior Hamas operatives."

I'm not going to copy the whole article here, you have to read this for yourself. IT IS INSANE. They've essentially been running, as the sources say, a "mass assassination factory" at a terrifying scale with massive and intended "collateral damage" (often the targets' entire families, or even sometimes much of their neighborhood), alongside an objective to destroy much of Gaza to “create a shock”, all on a population that had nowhere to escape. It'll likely remain in history books as one of the most depraved massacres in modern history.
