Heavy 10 Front T.A. Screw Removal Question

I’m trying to repair a heavy 10 and am unsure of how to remove part number (9) ASD482R2 in the catalog picture below.

Somthings wrong in there internally and it’s binding up, not sure how this works yet but want to remove it to try to diagnose.

In what direction should the shaft be removed? Red arrow towards the handle or blue arrow/away? In either direction there is a couple inches of movement before it binds up and I’m hesitant to try to drive it out without knowing the correct direction.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Part "9" is held on by part "2". Remove part "2" and part "9" should come out the BLUE direction.

The front TA screw (# 9) comes out the front (the red arrow), put your apron in neutral (center position). Loosen the apron retaining screws in the saddle, allowing the apron to drop about an 1/8 inch or a bit more. slide the front half out. You do not have to disassemble the front half assembly, you can un-screw the bushing after dropping the apron and removing the oil cover screws. the front half is installed as an assembly as you have to fit and install the bearing retainer before the assembly is installed. The rear half of the screw is installed from the rear.
