How to use 2 drill presses for drilling and tapping?

Second Larry’s post. Good hss drills are forgiving and plenty fast for what you are doing. #7 screw or mechanics length drills are sold by the dozen, give them the right rpm and feed. The time saved using carbide- if your set up is rigid and you can provide rpm is minutes per thousand holes, not hours.

You might tap drill the part, and then put that tap drill size in your Tapmatic. Adjust the part tapping fixture to allow the tap drill size to travel smoothly in and out.
With your tap drill size in-the-part, it should be easy enough to angle and locate the part correctly.
Also, there are different kinds of Floating Holders, some can wander only radially, but some can wander both axially and radially.
