Some time ago I picked up two 6" standard Kurt vises from HGR. They were in perfect shape, little to no use and no scars. But they had no Jaws. I purchased some AR500 from McMaster and plan to make 3 sets. I do have 2 of the same type Kurt vises and notice no matter which way they are installed the jaws don't rest on the bottom, are totally supported by the cap screws. Most of the time I use parallels but there are times I use the vise jaws to support the work.
I plan to grind the jaws on my surface grinder so that they are flat and parallel. Is there anything I should do to get my jaws to work as parallels?
