Lack of Round 1/2" Shoulder Bolt Extensions with 3/8-16 Threads for Mower Wheels

Initialisms are invented by people who are impressed by their own speech. Unfortunately, no one else usually is. Thanks for nothing.

This is just to make the larger wheels fit.

How about a longer, plain bolt and a piece of steel tubing that fits over it and inside the wheel hub. You can cut the steel tube to whatever length needed. Bolts are available in 1/2" increments.

Y'all know this is probably a $450 lawnmower. At least that if not more has been wasted trying to help somebody who can't help himself.

Assumption is the OP is fixated on this damn lawnmower and will not be able to move on until it's solved.

COTS is a very commonly used acronym
How do you know?
Where?
How much?
When?
Why be cryptic on purpose?
What do you have to gain from partisan jargon?
I could throw a bunch of physics or chemistry or engineering
initialisms and jargons at you that you would not know what
they mean. And laugh at how ignorant you are. But I won't
and I don't. Because it is not polite to speak in riddles.
If you want to feel cool and important, learn some jokes
and tell them at the bar. But please be clear to understand
on a technical forum, that has a world wide audience.
PE?
Professional Engineer?
In school, it was Physical Education.

Everywhere I've ever worked the term COTS is used and understood.

Every BOM** I've ever used or made at these places has a column called "COTS HARDWARE"

It's not being cryptic, just because you don't understand what it means doesnt make it cryptic. It also doesn't mean we're speaking riddles.

There are plenty of acronyms baked into modern discourse
MILF
YMMV
BBBJ
PC
ASAP
IMO
AKA
EOD
IDK
AFAIK
BTW

**I'm not going to explain what BOM means, FWIW you should at least know that one.

Just sell the fricken mower you don't like and buy a different one. That's what people with limited mechanical skills usually do.

How do you know?
Lived it, saw it on the news, heard it in discussions. It was the darling term for a long time, starting back in the 1990s. So 35 years and counting?

Worldwide.
How much?
When?
Definition here:

History here.

The idea was if something already on the shelf can do the job (or 90% of the job for 10% of the price), why reinvent the wheel every time? This was everywhere, in news and politics, parts, procurement, whatever.

Why be cryptic on purpose?
What do you have to gain from partisan jargon?

You still have not answered these questions.
Probably because you have no answers.
You guys are in your own echo chamber.
Convincing yourselves how right you are.
I am advocating clear and concise communication.
You guys want to sound like the new wiz kinds on
the block. My contributions will be remembered.
Your contributions will not be understood and forgotten.
Have it your way and I will have it mine.

I have no idea why this place deletes threads that mention anything to do with "hobby machines" but, permits no-post n00bs to ask questions about lawn mowers, debate the inaccuracy of Pi and other such nonsense.

Look: I will fix all four of your axles. Send me your four wheels, the four adjusters and eight, crisp $100 bills. I will return the parts in 7 days with the axles appropriately mounted. Not worth $800 to make a custom solution for your $600 lawnmower? Well now you've found the crux of the issue. That's about what it will 'cost' for anyone to create a custom solution. That might even be a bit low.

This is not going to get fixed with COTS hardware and you're wayyyy too fast to poo-poo all the suggestions you've already been given. Hey, I feel your pain. I did exactly this modification to my mower back around 2000. It was the first thing I did with that lathe: custom axles out of some giganto screws I bought. I know how long that took.

If you don't have the ability to drill or grind off the existing axles and draw up exactly what you need, maybe even needing to weld the new axles to the old pivots, what do you expect people to come up with? Oh, here, lemme make you something custom for free?
I will under-bid Donkey.

Send me the parts, for $200 I will make them fit.

Were you already retired in the 1990s? How did you escape the term COTS? It's been in wide use since.

If you want initialisms spelled out, why did you type CNC all these times? The average person reading that in 2024 thinks you're talking about Consensual Non Consent. Search that phrase at your own peril.

All this waste of time because someone wants to have happy non-stressed grass? Better to make sure it is irrigated during a dry spell than to worry about mowing height.

And the other approach would be to add rubber to the outside of the OEM wheels. Maybe Bandag could do it.

You can kiss my ass.

Precise and concise enough for you?
Gets to the point, with a minimum of words.
It's meaning is unimpeachable.
Doesn't require a picture to explain (although I can provide one)
Also it's meaning is understood worldwide.
From here to the poles.
Has been in use from the very first use of human language.

Thank you for the open invitation.
You sir are a giver.
No one gets the point if they do not know what it means.
And they are not even words. They are a group of letters
that a small partisan group knows what they mean.
If you say an initialisms meaning can not be doubted,
does not mean anything but your opinion. If you do not
speak in facts, people will not take you seriously, but maybe
the fools will. You tirade of hyperbolic embellishments
is a circus act of bull shit. Keep lying to yourself, because
it is clear you have to, because that seems to be what
your dignity is based upon. Good day.

I think the OP ( can I use this instead of original poster) should go to HomeofDepot and buy 12 rolls of Gorilla duct tape
Cover each existing wheel with 3 rolls to increase the diameter
I'm guessing the mower is not self propelled......can't imagine what he would do if there was a drive involved

Time for the moderator to lock
