I picked a old Lagun mill awhile back because it was free. Don’t really know what to do with it, other than set it up in my farm shop. I have a Bridgeport at work, but it would be handy to have a mill at my farm shop and not having to go to my work shop to mill something for the farm.
I’m a novice machinist at best, and although I’m decent on the Bridgeport, I’m not all than knowledgeable on mills. This Lagun has this on the spindle, that appears to be some sort of collet holder. What I’m wondering is what it is and can I take it off and use something else? I’ve looked it over and can’t figure how to detach it from the spindle, if you even can.
I’d much rather use something like R-8 collets, as this collet holder doesn’t appear to take a very large size, and R-8 is what I’m used to on the Bridgeport.
