Larger Spade Drills

I've found that stopping the machine and running the table out helps.

No 'Z' axis table travel on a floor traveling machine... Spindle travel only. This was a very large machine, about 12' of 'Y' axis travel.

One thing about Allied spade drills that has not been mentioned. If you don't run coolant through the drill, the coolant holes at the nose will easily get clogged with ground up chips, making their use worthless. Really tough sometimes clearing those holes.

PCB carbide drills in a dremal. I guess they do not have to be carbide, they are dirt cheap and do not grab like a normal twist bit.
