Got this link from Rick at Wells-Index regarding Bridgeports financial situation.

Maho mentioned here--

"The production plant in Kempten, Germany, which has been operationally under the control of the British subsidiary, is also excluded from the purchase. That showcase factory, originally built for milling-machine producer Maho A.G. at a then-projected cost of $282-million, is capable of exquisitely toleranced components, but it has never been used to its potential. When one of its two lines opened in 1993, it immediately caused overcapacity within the Maho operation despite constrictions elsewhere within that company, notably at its now-closed plant in Naugatuck, Conn. The Kempten plant, whose lease Bridgeport Machines acquired from a bankrupt Deckel Maho A.G.i.K. in 1995, has been on the block for years, and Larry Finnell in Bridgeport continues to work with German real-estate agents to try to sell it to a European buyer"
