Did this have anything to do with the cyber attacks that have been reported on in the last couple of days?

I know very little about this topic, I'm just askin'.

You never know I guess. They generally seem to attempt to grab username/password combinations from anywhere they can. That's why it's important to use long and varied passwords and not to share them between sites. Also to change them up regularly.

I vote for this idea. We *need* a PM hacker special ops team. :D

PM needs a ciber security team more than it needs the backwards wearing ball-cap guy that's the face of PM in the videos.
Couldn't he at least think of some inelegant questions to ask when he visits a shop filled with gear shapers, hobbers and grinders?
His visit to the Swiss precision shop wasn't a stellar performance either.

I moderate on another unrelated forum, we have experienced episodes of spammer attacks and a very pernicious one by a disgruntled member. In both cases the prep for the attack frequently involved sleeper accounts created over the course of weeks (perhaps more), then at 0 hour they started up and all h3ll broke loose until the mods got on top of it. It is interesting and helpful that the attacks were so un-creative, for which I am also grateful. Sometimes theres a new approach but seems to quickly turn into a one-trick pony.

Our disgruntled user campaigned against us for over a year, long enough for us to prepare & refine automated tools and do some analytics. They were periodic enough to suggest a monthly prep/execute interval, with a couple cases where they apparently went on vacation. At the end I think they might have gotten tired after having gone to the trouble of creating dozens of users over the course of the month and then being locked out after barely getting started.

We need the back story on this one...

Personally - I would like that story to dissapear ASAP before it puts any ideas in anyone's mind!

Skewlhouse shootings weren't a thing 'till someone got the ball rolling.
It was still a post office thing up to that time.

The earliest known United States shooting to happen on school property was the Pontiac's Rebellion school massacre on July 26, 1764, where four Lenape American Indian entered the schoolhouse near present-day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and killed nine or ten children (reports vary). Only two children survived.

Criticizing unpaid volunteers , why? If you dont like it maybe volunteer to help out and monitor the Spam.
Because they won't let us doo the job.
AFAIC the "ElGordo" button needs pushed on several
spamming members.

Barney is more like it.
You are the main reason this place has gone downhill.
You have no idea what is going on, you come in guns blazing.

Well really I've only given 1 warning and 1 ban only for a few days so far...I can't be that bad.

Getting a warning isn't that big of a deal, most of the guys who get them get all up in arms about it. Some even about a verbal request to cool it, which is silly. A warning (or three even) doesn't really have any effect, and they go away after a while if no more are given. There haven't been that many guys run off that I'm aware of. I only know of a handful, some of whom were not very nice guys. I think the newer moderators have been pretty fair in most cases, and things sure seem to be more civil lately.

Doug, who is it that you believe needs to be "spam cleaned?"

I've had one. I'm quite pleased about it too and I'd do it again.

Yep I wasn't polite and nicey-nice. It wasn't an accident.

The person I aimed at is no longer with us.
