Hello everone I am new to this fourm this is my first post. So I am trying remove my chip convayer from my SC-300 so I can take the coolant tank off and move the machine. I just bought it and need to bring it home. We unbolted a plate under the chuck and also along the convayer there is a cover that makes sure the chips go on the convayer.
When I try to pull the convayer out it won't lift bc it's hitting this cover. And i cant take the cover out. Once I get the convayer out the coolant tank will just pull out.
I am sure this whole procedure is part of regular maintenance and I am missing something. Thanks

Hi i am not sure on Nakamura but when i first bought my YCM Lathe the conveyor and the coolant tank had to come out the end together. So i thought that is a terrible design, I changed that and cut 14" x 1 1/2" piece out the end of the coolant tank so i cold remove the conveyor first. Now the coolant tank will come out the front or the end after the conveyor is removed. Hope someone with a Nakamura will chime in!

Yes it looks like I would need to raise the machine to get the convayer out. That would be a bad design. But maybe that's the case. I hope not.

Hi I didn't have to raise the lathe at anytime. When I first got it, they both would have to come out the end then I could separate them. Their was not enough room to lift the conveyor to clear the lip on the end of coolant tank when it was in the machine. After I cut the end of the coolant tank then I could slide the conveyor out no problem. I looked at pictures other lathes like mine and seen all had that part of the coolant tank cut out. Maybe with mine the conveyor was bought after buying the machine. How it was setup was terrible!

Hi Mike. Make sure the covers on the sides and center are removed. Move the conveyor to the right. You can then remove both the conveyor belt and the coolant tank from the lathe. In this case I think you will have to remove the cover of the conveyor belt and the coolant tank

Thanks for the reply Namchien. So I can't get that center cover out. Will it come out the door of the machine?
Does it pull up? It's hooked at the bottom.
Thanks
Mike

Yes I took the screws out and the cover lifted up. And then I was able to pull the tank out.
Thanks again.
