Could someone please give me some advice on how to do a zero offset shift on an Okuma lathe with a OSP P100L control? We have barstock and are machining some small washers and just want to shift the zero. We do this with our Haas lathes all the time. Thank you.

VZSHZ=?
Put this in the program to shift your part zero from wherever your zero set is set to...just put the value you want it shifted in place of the ?

Correct, you'll need a sign to tell the machine which direction to shift.

This works on older controls...at least all the way down to OSP5000L (early 1980 vintage).

Where in the program do put the VZSHZ?
Will it shift every time you run the program?
Can you provide an example program

You put it wherever you need to make the shift. If the program runs on a loop it needs to be inside the loop with the appropriate value. When the program is loaded it uses the Z offset value on the offset page. When VZSHZ is activated it shifts from that location by the amount specified. As soon as you hit reset or the program ends that shift disappears. It is not modal and does not change the actual Z offset.

If you provide an example of you program and just put the words "SHIFT Z" where you want it to take effect someone can fill in the blanks.
