Looking for a 3 jaw chuck to fit an old Elgin lathe.

No idea about the actual heritage...I got it cheap, and had to haul it out of a semi trailer that had been sitting on a very old guy's bit of land.

I think I got my money's worth in just the tales about this old dude who was, according to all that gave me info, a moonshiner until the late 60's.

Anyway, this thing was rotting away in the trailer, and I paid about $200 bucks for it.

The head stock still spins easily, the cross and top slides (after cleaning them up) are fairly solid, and for what I'm going to be doing with it, it's more than perfect.

Takes 5C collects, but it has the slots for a twist on chuck.

Any ideas, info, would be so very welcome.

This is a standard hardinge mount - you can buy chucks with this mount, new.
But just a new mounting plate will cost more than your lathe did. Chuck extra, for quite a bit more. Used chucks cost less, especially the typical 60-70 year old 3-jaws with one set of jaws lost, which are easy to find on eBay. I have some extras.
